Ward signed a one-year contract with the Eagles on Tuesday, Dave Zangaro of NBC Sports Philadelphia reports.
EDGE Analysis
Ward accounted for 70 touchdowns in his final two seasons (2015-16) playing quarterback at the University of Houston and caught on with the Philadelphia practice squad as an undrafted rookie wideout in 2017. Released by the Eagles at the end of 2018 training camp, Ward joined the San Antonio Commanders of the now-defunct AAF, catching 22 of 40 targets for 214 yards in eight games. He'll be a long shot to stick on the 53-man roster, competing with Mack Hollins (groin), Shelton Gibson, Braxton Miller, Johnny Holton and AAF receiving leader Charles Johnson.

Ward (head) was a participant in team drills during June's mandatory minicamp, Dave Zangaro of NBC Sports Philadelphia reports.
EDGE Analysis
Ward was involved in a dangerous collision during OTAs that led to the receiver being carted off the practice field. However, Ward has since assured the media that he's fine, and his participation in team drills during minicamp all but confirms that notion. When training camp opens in late July, Ward will compete with a slew of other depth-caliber players for the No. 5 or 6 job at wideout.

Ward (head) indicated after practice that he's fine following a scary incident in practice that required him to be carted off the field, Dave Zangaro of NBC Sports Philadelphia reports.
EDGE Analysis
Ward played quarterback in college but didn't possess the tools required to stick at the position in the NFL. As a result, he transitioned to wide receiver as he attempted to secure a 53-man roster spot. While that ultimately fell by the wayside as a rookie, Ward stuck around as a practice squad member and apparently impressed the Eagles enough to warrant a reserve/future contract this offseason. He would need a big training camp showing to earn a roster spot over some of the more established options or draft picks this season, but, since it appears he's avoided a major injury, a spot on the practice squad again may not be out of the question.

Ward had to be carted off the practice field during OTAs on Thursday, Les Bowen of the Philadelphia Daily News reports.
EDGE Analysis
It's unclear exactly what sort of injury Ward suffered, but he went down after being involved in a collision when going up for a pass from Carson Wentz. Ward was reportedly not moving for a few moments after hitting the turf, but ultimately was able to stand and get on the cart. It's believed to be a head or neck injury, but expect an official update on Ward to come about after further testing.

Ward signed a contract with the Eagles on Wednesday.
EDGE Analysis
The Eagles originally signed Ward as an undrafted free agent last spring in an attempt to convert him from a quarterback to a receiver. While the 5-foot-11, 185-pound Houston product didn't survive final roster cuts ahead of the 2017 season opener, Ward proved to be a playmaker at the collegiate level -- one who rushed for over 1,000 yards during his junior season -- and will likely be better prepared to make an impact in his second professional season than he was as a rookie.
