Joseph has the upper hand in the starting kicker race for Green Bay after going 7-for-7 in field-goal tries during practice Thursday compared to Anders Carlson's 4-for-7 session, Matt Schneidman of The New York Times reports.

The veteran kicker signed with Green Bay in March and has so far brought an experienced presence that could give him the advantage as he battles against Carlson for the starting spot. Joseph has now made 29 of 31 of kicks attempted in front of reporters during training camp while Carlson has gone 25-of-31.

The Packers signed Joseph to a contract Tuesday, his agent Brett Tessler reports.

Joseph gives Green Bay an experienced veteran option to compete with Anders Carlson, a 2023 sixth-round pick who converted 27 of 33 field-goal attempts (82 percent) and 34 of 39 extra-point attempts as a rookie. Joseph converted 24 of 30 field-goal tries (80 percent) and 36 of 38 extra-point attempts over 17 games with the Vikings last season.

Joseph was good from 39 and 43 yards in defeat, which brought him to a 24-for-30 tally on FGAs this season. All six of his misses came from beyond 40 yards, as he went 3-for-6 from 40-49 yards out and 4-for-7 from 50-plus yards. The Florida Atlantic product is set to be a free agent this offseason after signing a one-year deal last March, and it's feasible that the Vikings could explore other options at the position this spring.

Joseph made a field goal and extra-point try in Sunday's 33-10 loss to the Packers.

Joseph connected on a 54-yard try in the second quarter to put a dent in a 10-0 deficit. The 29-year-old wouldn't return to the field until the fourth quarter for an extra-point try after a Johnny Mundt touchdown. Joseph is now 22-for-28 on FGAs this season as the Vikings head into their last game of the season against the Lions in Week 18.

Joseph converted his only field-goal attempt and all three extra-point tries during Sunday's 30-24 loss to Detroit.

Joseph logged an identical stat line to Week 15's loss against Cincinnati, another contest in which Minnesota's offense struggled to find a consistent rhythm. The Vikings have another divisional matchup on the horizon versus Green Bay in Week 17, and the Packers' struggling defense could allow for easier scoring opportunities.

Joseph made his lone field-goal attempt and all three extra-point-tries in Saturday's 27-24 overtime loss to the Bengals.

Joseph was successful when called upon, making a 39-yard FGA to push the Vikings' lead to 17-3 as the third quarter was nearing its end. The Florida Atlantic product is now 20-for-26 on field-goal attempts this season; however, that still leaves him with a career-worst 77 percent conversion rate, as he remains just 5-for-11 on attempts greater than 40 yards. Joseph and the Vikings will host the Lions in a key divisional matchup in Week 16 as Minnesota looks to stay in the playoff picture and keep their hopes of winning the division alive.

Joseph missed from 49 yards out in the second quarter, but the game would remain scoreless until he got another opportunity. That would come as the two-minute warning approached in the fourth quarter, where he was successful on a 36-yard attempt that gave Minnesota a 3-0 lead, which they would maintain over the final two minutes. Joseph and the Vikings will now travel to Cincinnati for Week 15.

Joseph connected on his only field-goal try and extra-point attempt in Monday's 12-10 loss to the Bears.

Joseph was successful from 34 yards out to bring the first half to a close and tie the game at three. He didn't step on the field again until his PAT that gave the team a 10-9 lead midway through the fourth. Next up for Joseph and the Vikings is a Week 13 matchup with the Raiders.

Unfortunately, the Florida Atlantic product was unable to connect from 54 yards out early in the fourth quarter Sunday, but he did convert from 40 yards on the team's opening drive and again from 33 yards on Minnesota's first possession of the second half. Next up for Joseph is a trip to Denver for a matchup with the Broncos in Week 11.
