Escobar (torn Achilles) finished the season with just eight catches on 13 targets for 64 yards and a touchdown in 14 games.
EDGE Analysis
The former second round pick is increasingly looking like a bust, as despite Escobar's size and value as a red-zone target he has yet to establish himself as a reliable pass-catching threat in three seasons. Assuming he returns from his torn Achilles tendon at 100 percent, expect him to back up Cowboys institution Jason Witten once again in 2016.

Escobar (Achilles) was placed on injured reserve Saturday, Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle reports.
EDGE Analysis
Escobar's season will come to a close due to the torn Achilles tendon he suffered in Week 15. James Hanna will serve as the backup tight end behind Jason Witten the rest of the way.

Escobar collected two catches off of three targets for 20 yards in Sunday's win over Miami.
EDGE Analysis
With Tony Romo back under center Escobar enjoyed his first multi-catch game since, you guessed it, Romo was last under center. Jason Witten continues to be Romo's security blanket at tight end, but Escobar managed to collect four touchdowns on just nine catches in 2014. He may have a similar end-zone focused role in Dallas now with Romo back.

Escobar caught two passes on three targets for 16 yards in Sunday's win over the Eagles.
EDGE Analysis
He should have gotten credit for a touchdown as well, but was ruled down inside the one yard line and officials couldn't conclusively overturn the decision on replay. Escobar also lost a fumble in the fourth quarter which could have proven disastrous, but fortunately for the Cowboys, Sam Bradford fumbled the ball right back to them on the very next play. Jason Witten is now hobbled due to multiple knee and ankle sprains suffered Sunday, so Escobar could see an expanded role next week against the Falcons.

Escobar caught both his targets for eight yards and a touchdown in Sunday's comeback win over the Giants.
EDGE Analysis
He's been a red-zone specialist to date, with seven of his 20 career receptions going for TDs, but that could change over the coming weeks with Dez Bryant out of action due to a broken foot. Escobar could see an increase in targets and snaps where he lines up on the outside, as the Cowboys lack depth at wide receiver, so in deeper formats the third-year tight end could be an interesting speculative play.

Dallas Cowboys tight end Gavin Escobar did not practice on Tuesday after suffering a concussion during Monday's practice, according to the team's official website. Escobar took part in Tuesday's morning team walkthrough, but he will need to go through the appropriate concussion protocol before he returns to practice.

Escobar had the best game of his career in Sunday's win over the Giants, catching three passes for 65 yards and two touchdowns. Escobar opened the scoring for Dallas with a 15-yard touchdown midway through the first quarter, and later added a sweet 26-yard score. On his second touchdown, Escobar had to extend his arms in the end zone, before taking a big hit. The former second-round pick is huge and can run, so the talent is there, but with Jason Witten still around, it might be tough for him to have similar stat lines moving forward.

Escobar was targeted twice on Sunday, catching one pass for a two-yard TD. He screwed up a back-shoulder route at the goal line on his first target which nearly resulted in a pick-six for the Seahawks, but Tony Romo went right back to him on the next play and found him in the back of the end zone for the score. Escobar has just six targets through six games, and until he smooths out the rough edges to his game that target volume isn't likely to increase.

Escobar (knee) is active Sunday at St. Louis, Brandon George of the Dallas Morning News reports. With a mere two targets through two contests, Escobar isn't much of a consideration in the Cowboys' passing attack.
