Graham (back) is not expected to play Sunday against Washington, NFL Network's Albert Breer reports. We'll have confirmation of that, one way or the other, in advance of Sunday's kickoff, but in such a scenario, C.J. Fiedorowicz would be in to start at TE in Graham's place in Week 1.

Graham, who did not practice this week because of a back injury, remains a game-time decision for Sunday's game against Washington, the Texans' official site reports. The Texans plan to work the tight end out before Sunday's kickoff, with the report noting that rookie C.J. Fiedorowicz would get start in Week 1 in the event that Graham is scratched.

Graham (back) is on track to be a game-day decision for Sunday's game against Washington, Drew Dougherty of houstontexans.com reports. Graham (back) missed practice again Thursday, according to cbslocal.com , but at this stage it looks like the Texans plan to work Graham out Sunday morning, before determining his Week 1 status. If Graham is out, or limited at all this weekend, then C.J. Fiedorowicz and Ryan Griffin would be next in line for the Texans' TE looks.

Graham (back) didn't practice Wednesday, the Houston Chronicle reports. More on Graham's status as Sunday's game against Washington approaches. C.J. Fiedorowicz and Ryan Griffin are next in line for the Texans' TE looks should Graham be limited in any way this weekend.

Graham and C.J. Fiedorowicz handled most of the first-team work in Saturday's preseason game against the Broncos, according to Brian T. Smith of the Houston Chronicle. Graham appears to be ahead of Ryan Griffin as the team's primary receiving threat at tight end, but the former wasn't targeted in Saturday's game, while the latter hauled in all five of his targets for 71 yards and a touchdown, albeit with the entire stat line coming in the second half. Graham is still the choice if you're drafting today, but this should be worth keeping an eye on up to Week 1, and even into the regular season. As for Fiedorowicz, the 6-5 rookie will likely occupy more of a blocking role, but he could be a threat in the red zone.

Graham did not catch his one target in Saturday's preseason opener against the Cardinals. Graham is listed atop the depth chart, but it isn't entirely clear how the Texans' tight ends will be used. Hulking rookie C.J. Fiedorowicz profiles as an in-line tight end, while Graham and Ryan Griffin are more threatening in the slot. The Texans are expected to use plenty of two-tight end formations, and there are three players in the mix for snaps. It'll be an interesting situation to watch this preseason, but Saturday's game didn't provide many clues.

Texans TE Garrett Graham says new coach Bill O'Brien plans to use him as a "move tight end, an H-back." "I'm excited about that," said Graham, who received $11.25 million via his new three-year contract. Graham's athleticism pales in comparison to Aaron Hernandez's, but O'Brien was on New England's staff during Hernandez's finest years as an H-back and move tight end. It sounds like the Texans are penciling Ryan Griffin into the "Gronk" role, though things could change on draft weekend.

Texans re-signed TE Garrett Graham to a three-year contract. Graham returns as Owen Daniels likely walks. A 2010 fourth-rounder, Graham has proven to have little upside, and enters his fifth NFL season with only 78 career catches. Given a chance to sign while Daniels was sidelined with a broken leg last season, Graham posted a middling 49/545/5 line, showing little play-making ability. He can't block. Second-year pro Ryan Griffin has a brighter future.

Free agent Garrett Graham said talks between his camp and the Texans are going "slow." The Texans are going to have a fight on their hands if they want to retain Graham to help fill the shoes of released veteran Owen Daniels. The Packers and Giants are two tight-end needy teams that could show interest. The other option for the Texans is to just roll with second-year man Ryan Griffin, who would bring more upside as a pass-catcher but has work to do in the blocking game.

ESPN's Pat Yasinskas is "hearing" free agent TE Garrett Graham "could be a target for the Buccaneers." Graham lacks playmaking ability and is a poor blocker, but the Bucs are needy at tight end. They don't believe Greg Schiano holdover Tim Wright is the answer. Graham has also drawn light interest from the Packers. He turns 28 in August.
