Rowe was traded to the Patriots on Tuesday, Martin Frank of delawareonline.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Philadelphia's busy trade week continued Tuesday after the team opted to deal Rowe to New England for offensive lineman Josh Kline and a 2018 fourth round draft pick. Rowe started five games for the Eagles in 2015, but soon began performing at subpar levels. The 23-year-old will likely function as a depth corner for the Patriots this season.

Rowe and Nolan Carroll are competing for the starting spot opposite Byron Maxwell, according to CSN Philadelphia's Geoff Mosher. Unless the Eagles trade Brandon Boykin, the loser of this position battle will likely be the No. 4 cornerback. Rowe, however, has a second potential path to playing time, as he's also capable of playing safety.

Rowe played cornerback at Friday's minicamp practice, Zach Berman of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports. The 47th overall pick in the 2015 NFL Draft, Rowe is big enough to play safety but also fast enough to play corner. With Byron Maxwell locked into one outside job and Brandon Boykin locked in as the slot corner, Rowe and Walter Thurmond will likely compete for a starting spot. The Eagles could use help at both cornerback and safety, so it won't be all that surprising if Rowe eventually gets a look at both positions during training camp. It makes sense for the Eagles to start him off at the more highly-valued position.
