According to the Cleveland Plain-Dealer, the Browns will start Seneca Wallace behind center on Sunday against the Arizona Cardinals due to Colt McCoy's continuous struggle with concussion-like symptoms. It will be Wallace's first start of the season. In his lone career start against the Cardinals, back in December of 2008, Wallace went 24-of-43 for 250 yards and two touchdowns.
According to the Pittsburgh Tribune Review, Steelers' quarterback Ben Roethlisberger will be a game-time decision. Roethlisberger maintains he has made progress and will be fitted with a custom brace for his bad ankle if he goes.
"I'm going to do everything I can to be out there. I don't know if it's my decision," Roethlisberger said. "If it was just a matter of pain, I'd be out there. I'm physically unable to do certain things."
It's not a good week for the Steelers to lose Roethlisberger. Their opponent - the San Francisco 49ers - have the top run defense and have yet to allow a touchdown on the ground this season.
According to the Kansas City Star, either Kyle Orton or Ricky Stanzi will start for the Chiefs this Sunday against the Green Bay Packers, not the currently benched Tyler Palko.
"If Orton is able to go, then Orton is the quarterback," interrim head coach Romeo Crennel said at his daily news conference. "We'll have to see how his finger is and how he comes along and whether we can count on him with that finger."
If Orton can't go, Stanzi will make his first career start against a Packers' pass defense that has been gashed throughout the season through the air, but has been playing much better as of late. Orton has a lifetime 66.2 quarterback rating against Green Bay.
According to the Detroit Free Press, Lions' running back Kevin Smith hopes he will be ready to play against the Oakland Raiders this week, as his ankle has made some progress in the healing process. The Raiders are allowing a league-high 5.3 yards per carry, so it may be wise to have Smith in your fantasy lineup this week if he can go.
According to jsonline.com, Packers' wide receiver Donald Driver believes the offense will be fine without Greg Jennings in the starting lineup.
"We've got a team (where) I think everybody has been playing well all season long." Driver said. "He's a great player. We will miss him. But we'll move forward and continue to play. As long as we can get him back and make a playoff run, we'll be fine."
While it's hard to gauge ...
Against the Odds - Week 15 fantasysharks.com Thu 12/15/11 1:00 PM
Let's begin with a review of how accurate Vinnie has been against the spread, 14 weeks in:
39-33-3
Seattle Seahawks @ Chicago Bears (-3.5): The over/under is 36 points as of late Wednesday, which appears to be lower than that of any other game; this tells you what you need to know. The Bears' offense is atrocious, with no Matt Forte to bail Caleb Hanie out. Albeit versus lesser competition, Seattle's defense is no slouch here lately. Marshawn Lynch faces a stiff challenge from Chicago's defense of course, but this beast of a man has now tied Shaun Alexander's team record for consecutive games with a touchdown. Tarvaris Jackson is mixing it up with Golden Tate and Doug Baldwin as needed, capably leading his team to wins. Seattle remains in postseason contention, folks. Speaking of which, these two teams last tangled in the second round of the NFC playoffs, following Seattle's dramatic victory over New Orleans. Chicago may have won that day, but you would do well not to anticipate similar results this time.
Gimme the Seahawks plus the points.
Cincinnati Bengals @ St. Louis Rams (+6.5): This is one of those match ups that probably smacks of "Who cares?" to some. The Rams have regressed to arguably the least competitive team in the league, losing four straight (most of them blowouts), while the Bengals have dropped four of their last five. Listen, a playoff worthy team would have found a way to get through that stretch more intact, but there is little shame in struggling against Pittsburgh twice in one month, Baltimore, and Houston. Cedric Benson and possibly Bernard Scott figure to have a field day against the Rams putrid run defense, Sunday, while Andy Dalton will enjoy his full complement of receivers per the usual. Cincinnati's defense, which lost some of its luster in said five-game stretch, ought to be just fine against a Rams offense hamstrung by poor blocking and Sam Bradford's injuries. Quick tip: Cincinnati has gone 5-1 versus the spread in road games, whereas St. Louis has gone 1-5 versus the spread at home.
Gimme the Bengals minus the points.
New York Jets @ Philadelphia Eagles (-2): The Jets have a rough history against Philadelphia, and you might be looking at New York's 8-5 coupled with Philadelphia's 5-8 record and wondering what gives. New York has looked like the best team in the AFC East at times, albeit not often, but has also looked like the worst team in the division other times. The best thing Philly has going is LeSean McCoy; he's ...
