According to Joe Reedy of the Cincinnati Enquirer, the Bengals' interest in free agent SS Donte Whitner appears to have "cooled off." Reedy no longer expects Whitner to sign with the Bengals. The former No. 8 overall pick's market has been softer than anyone could have imagined. Whitner won't be back in Buffalo, and the Bengals so far have been his best bet.

According to ESPN's John Clayton, there is a "good chance" free agent S Donte Whitner will sign with the Bengals. The Browns were frequently floated as a possible suitor for Whitner this offseason, but they've opted to go with Usama Young instead. The Bengals have a vacancy at strong safety with Roy Williams unsigned.
