Carey (ribs) is active for Sunday's matchup with the Eagles, Kyle Meinke of MLive Media Group reports.
EDGE Analysis
Carey will serve as the backup to Glover Quin once again. With just nine defensive snaps on the season, Carey shouldn't be expected to have much of an impact on the defense.

Carey (undisclosed) has been removed from the active/non-football injury list and can return to practice, Lions' writer Tim Twentyman reports.
EDGE Analysis
It was never disclosed why Carey was on the NFI list, but he'll be able to practice for the fist time this training camp. Detroit's safety position seems to be up for grabs at this point and Carey will have the opportunity to earn some play time in the coming weeks.

Carey (undisclosed) was placed on Detroit's non-football injury list Friday, Kyle Meinke of MLive reports.
EDGE Analysis
Carey has struggled to produce in the secondary since his strong rookie season that featured 55 tackles six years ago. Since 2010, Carey has tallied just 113 tackles in five seasons with Detroit. The Lions don't appear to have any permanent plans for Carey at safety and his placement on this list could signal that his tenure with Detroit may be up in the air.

The Lions signed S Don Carey to a three-year extension at some point during the 2013 regular season. The deal was never reported by the media, but the NFLPA database has Carey under Detroit's control through 2016. He was previously only signed through 2013. Although Carey has been a liability when pressed into action at safety and slot corner, he's contributed 21 special teams tackles the past two seasons.

Lions signed S Don Carey to a one-year, $630,000 contract extension. Carey was scheduled to become a restricted free agent this offseason. He was signed on the first day of November with the Detroit secondary experiencing a slew of injuries. Carey, 26 in February, then started six games down the stretch and recorded two interceptions with five pass break-ups. He'll be a reserve and special teams player in 2013.

Lions released DB Don Carey with an injury settlement. Carey was on injured reserve after being waived/injured last Monday. A special teamer and reserve safety for the Lions last season, Carey is just two years removed from starting 10 games for the Jaguars. He could draw interest as a mid-season special teams fill-in.

Lions waived/injured DB Don Carey and TE Nathan Overbay. A special teamer and reserve defensive back, Carey appeared in five games last season, making 11 tackles. He appeared in 15 games for the Jaguars in 2010, making 10 starts. Getting cut at this stage of camp bodes poorly for Carey's NFL future, but his experience should keep him on the radar. A third-year pro, Overbay has yet to appear in an NFL game.
