ESPN.com doesn't project Packers TE D.J. Williams to make the final roster. Williams, a 2011 fifth-round pick, has reportedly been far too inconsistent. He practices well, but never carries it over to the games. Williams has just three catches for 25 yards through two preseason games, and has been destroyed as a run blocker. He has just nine career catches in 26 games.

ESPN Boston mentions Packers TE D.J. Williams and Eagles TE Clay Harbor as "names that come to mind" if the Patriots want to try and trade for a tight end. Beat writer Field Yates is just tossing a couple of names in the air. He wasn't suggesting the Patriots were actually targeting Williams or Harbor, but either one could make some sense. Harbor has fallen out of favor in Philadelphia, and Williams has caught just nine passes in 26 career games as he's been hard-pressed to find the field. Green Bay may be more inclined to keep Williams, especially with Jermichael Finley's contract wrapping up after 2013. Both Williams and Harbor are athletic catch-first tight ends.

ESPN Milwaukee wonders if TE D.J. Williams fits into the Packers' plans. Williams, a 2011 fifth-round pick, caught just seven passes for 57 yards in his sophomore season and was a healthy inactive down the stretch. He was deemed a solid pass-catching tight end coming out of Arkansas, but height questions -- 6-foot-2 -- have been a talking point. Williams, as it sits right now, is fourth on the depth chart.

Packers TE D.J. Williams (hamstring) was limited in practice on Friday and is listed as questionable for Week 7. Williams was looking at an increased role on Sunday with Jermichael Finely's (shoulder) status in doubt. The second-year tight end is staring at a game-time decision. If both he and Finley are forced to miss, the Packers wouldn't have a tight end worth considering in fantasy.

Packers TE D.J. Williams was held out of Thursday's practice with a hamstring injury. It's a new injury for Williams, who was set for an increased role with Jermichael Finley's (shoulder) status in doubt this week. It's beginning to look like the Packers won't have a tight end worth considering in fantasy leagues for Sunday's game versus the Texans.

Packers declared TE D.J. Williams, RB James Starks, CB Davon House, DL Phillip Merling, LB Terrell Manning, WR Jarrett Boykin and DB Sean Richardson inactive for Week 4 versus the Saints. Williams played nearly 50 percent of the snaps last week. He's not known to be injured, which suggests the Packers plan to use more multi-wide sets and fewer two-tight end looks this week. Starks isn't close to pushing Cedric Benson for playing time. Merling is a candidate for release with Mike Neal due back from suspension later this week.

Packers TE D.J. Williams was "having one of the best camps of anyone on the team" before sustaining a minor ankle injury last week. The rich get richer. Confirming that Williams has opened eyes, OC Tom Clements is now devising ways to get his second tight end on the field, even if it's in the backfield as a lead blocker. We doubt Williams will eat into Jermichael Finley's snap count, but he's talented enough to be utilized as a weapon in two-tight end packages. The 2011 fifth-rounder is not an option in redraft leagues.

Packers TE D.J. Williams is having "arguably the best camp of anybody on the roster," according to the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel. It's a big step in the right direction for Williams, a fifth-round pick in 2011. Last year, he was benched after lining up incorrectly during a November game. With Andrew Quarless (knee) sidelined, Williams is stepping in as the No. 3 tight end behind Jermichael Finley and Tom Crabtree.
