Smith's next opportunity to build on the resurgent effort comes in a Week 3 NFC East battle Sunday against a Commanders team that allowed 256 passing yards and four passing touchdowns to the Lions' Jared Goff in Week 2.

Nevertheless, Smith is hardly a candidate to be sidelined much longer in the Eagles' air attack irrespective of the outsized presence of A.J. Brown, so a bounce-back effort could well be in store during a Week 2 home matchup against the Vikings on Monday night, Sept. 19.

Smith is unlikely to play in Saturday's preseason finale against the Dolphins with coach Nick Sirianni expected to sit Eagles starters, Josh Tolentino of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports.
