Derrick Mason caught just one pass for seven yards against the Patriots in Week 5. Mason was noticeably absent throughout the game, losing playing time to rookie Jeremy Kerley, who caught three passes for 35 yards and a touchdown. Mason's lone reception didn't come until late in the fourth quarter. Averaging just 23 yards per week, he's in danger of losing the No. 3 receiver job.

Derrick Mason made two catches for 37 yards in Sunday's loss to the Ravens. Mason has now reeled in three or fewer catches in three of his first four games with Gang Green. On pace for 48 catches and 432 yards, the 37-year-old wideout's decline is continuing unabated.

Derrick Mason caught six passes for 45 yards in Week 3 against the Raiders. The Jets employed a dink-and-dunk game-plan and Mason was the big winner, seeing a team high 10 targets. Still, at 37-years-old and only useful in short yardage situations, Mason can't be trusted on in fantasy leagues.

Derrick Mason caught three passes for 19 yards in Sunday's win over the Cowboys. Mason was targeted six times, but that was still good for only fifth amongst the Jets' stable of pass catchers. The 37-year-old wideout is unlikely to develop into a WR3 this season.

Derrick Mason's contract with the Jets is for the veteran's minimum of $910,000. Although the deal is guaranteed, it speaks to the fact of how far Mason's play slipped last season and why the Ravens were willing to release in hopes of bringing him back at a lower salary. He's going to break camp with the Jets, but there aren't many other guarantees that can be made as Mason enters his age-37 campaign.

Derrick Mason is expected to focus on playing the slot for the Jets, and is also considered "Plaxico insurance." ESPN New York's Rich Cimini points out that Burress is unlikely to hold up after two-plus years of no contact at age 34. Mason is 37, but he's been an incredibly durable pro, and Cimini predicts he'll end up with more snaps than Plax by season's end. Mason won't be a fantasy option barring injury to one of the Jets' top receivers, but he'll steal targets from Dustin Keller. Rookie Jeremy Kerley's sleeper shine is quickly wearing off.

Jets signed WR Derrick Mason, formerly of the Ravens. It's a surprising move, as not only is Mason electing to move on from his home for the past six years, but likely for less money than he could have made in Baltimore (at least according to Rex Ryan). His signing shouldn't necessarily affect Plaxico Burress' fantasy stock, but may cap Dustin Keller's, who was in for a boost in targets after the Jets cut Jerricho Cotchery. However, it's also possible Mason could be finished. He visibly lost a step in 2010, topping 80 yards receiving in a game only twice while managing just one catch in Baltimore's two playoff games.

Free agent Derrick Mason intends to sign with a team within the next 48 hours. "I will make a decision quickly because I want to be in somebody's camp soon," said Mason. He's considering contract offers from the Ravens, Titans, and Jets. The Jets probably need Mason the most to fill out their top three receivers.

The Ravens are expected to "turn their attention" to re-signing free agent Derrick Mason after missing out on Malcom Floyd. Baltimore has the Jets and Titans to contend with for Mason, who is also reportedly atop Tennessee's wish list and definitely high on New York's. Mason's best chance at winning would be with the Ravens and Jets. If he's trying to max out his market at age 37, the Titans have the most cap space of the three.

Free agent Derrick Mason is currently weighing offers from the Jets, Ravens and Titans, according to FOX's Aaron Wilson. Per Wilson, Mason has returned to his home in Nashville to mull his options. While the Jets are desperate for a No. 3 receiver after losing Jerricho Cotchery, the Ravens and Titans can offer a larger role. Mason is expected to take a few days to decide.
