Anderson played the whole first half in Saturday's preseason Week 2 loss to the Titans, but threw for just 88 yards with an interception while completing 7-of-12 passes.
EDGE Analysis
Anderson's offense ran just five plays in his first three drives, sandwiching a three-and-out between a Devin Funchess fumble and an interception. He picked it up from there and ended up leading Carolina to 10 points in the second quarter thanks mostly to contributions from running back Christian McCaffrey. Anderson will be relegated back to a reserve role once Cam Newton (shoulder) returns to action.

Anderson completed four of five passes for 76 yards and a touchdown in Wednesday's preseason opener against the Texans.
EDGE Analysis
Anderson started while Cam Newton (shoulder) was sidelined for Carolina's first exhibition tilt, and the veteran proved why he's considered one of the more reliable backups league-wide. After putting the Panthers in field-goal range on his first drive, Anderson finished his night with a perfectly placed 23-yard touchdown pass to Kelvin Benjamin on his second possession in charge. While Newton will obviously be the man once the regular season rolls around, the Panthers are in safe hands with Anderson when needed.

Anderson is listed as the No. 2 quarterback on the Panthers' unofficial depth chart for Wednesday's preseason game against Houston, ESPN's David Newton reports.
EDGE Analysis
With Cam Newton (shoulder) presumably out, Anderson figures to get the start in what likely will be a brief appearance from the first-team offense. The Panthers didn't bring in any serious competition for the backup job this offseason, showing confidence in Anderson's ability to handle the role for a seventh straight year.

Anderson completed 36 of 53 passes for 453 yards, two touchdowns and five interceptions in five games played, including two starts, this season.
EDGE Analysis
Anderson played extensively in two games this season, beginning in Week 4 against the Falcons after Cam Newton was knocked out with a concussion, and then by starting with Newton sidelined the following game. Unlike when Anderson successfully filled in for Newton last season, he threw two interceptions in both of those games this term, and then threw a pick on his lone attempt after starting Carolina's Week 13 loss to the Seahawks, when Newton was benched for the first series of the game due to a dress code violation. Despite those mistakes, the 33-year-old is generally viewed as one of the more reliable backups in the league, which figures to remain his role as he enters the final year of his current contract with the Panthers.

Anderson (illness) has been ruled out of Sunday's game in Tampa Bay.
EDGE Analysis
Anderson was out sick all week. In his absence, Joe Webb will inherit backup duties behind starting quarterback Cam Newton (right shoulder), who's officially listed as questionable to play.

Anderson started at quarterback and threw an interception on his lone passing attempt in Sunday night's loss to the Seahawks.
EDGE Analysis
Anderson was promoted to the Panthers' starting quarterback job after Cam Newton violated team dress code, and although Anderson was only slated to play Carolina's opening series, he still threw an interception on the team's first offensive play. The veteran returned to his backup position thereafter, and figures to serve as the Panthers' second-stringer as usual going forward.

Anderson completed 18 of 28 passes for 278 yards and two interceptions in Monday night's loss to the Buccaneers. He also rushed once for four yards, but lost a fumble.
EDGE Analysis
Anderson, who was making his third career start for the Panthers, showed great command of Carolina's offense, averaging 9.9 yards per attempt, but his three turnovers proved very costly Monday. While the 33-year-old's first interception was off a tipped pass, his second-half fumble came with the team driving. Even worse, on the Panthers' next possession, Anderson forced a throw on first-and-goal from the one-yard line for his second pick of the night. Those back-breaking turnovers ultimately ruined an otherwise decent game from Anderson, who will return to his usual backup quarterback position if teammate Cam Newton (concussion) is cleared before Sunday's game against the Saints.

Anderson will earn the start for Cam Newton (concussion) on Monday versus the Buccaneers, Adam Schefter of ESPN.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
The concussion protocol remains Newton's domain following the big hit he took last Sunday in Atlanta. As a result, Anderson will be under center for his third career start as a Panther. In the first two, he completed 49 of 74 passes for 507 yards and three touchdowns, all against the Buccaneers during the 2014 season.

Anderson is preparing to start Monday's game against the Buccaneers due to Cam Newton's bout with a concussion, the Charlotte Observer reports.
EDGE Analysis
Newton was absent from the first practice of Week 5 preparations as he attempts to work his way through the NFL's protocol for head injuries. In the meantime, Anderson took the first-team snaps as he readies himself for his first start since the 2014 season. If he's called upon, as appears increasingly likely, he'll look to uphold his standard in 19 games as a Panther, which includes 69.5 percent passing, 970 yards, and seven touchdowns versus two interceptions.

Anderson completed 17 of 23 passes for 172 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions in Sunday's loss to the Falcons.
EDGE Analysis
Anderson entered the game after teammate Cam Newton (concussion) was knocked out during the fourth quarter. Even though Anderson only played a little over nine minutes, he still managed to rack up 23 passing attempts, as the Panthers sought to come back from behind. While his first two series ended with touchdown passes, Anderson's final two series both saw him throw interceptions, including one that was returned for a touchdown. Overall, it was an eventful cameo from the 33-year-old backup, who would figure to start next Monday night against the Buccaneers if Newton is unable to clear protocol by then.
