Redskins coach Mike Shanahan said the team would be willing to bring free agent CB DeAngelo Hall back if he doesn't sign elsewhere.
It would obviously be at a much lower price than the $8 million he was scheduled to make. Although he's been one of the more burnable starters in the league lately, we'd expect Hall to find a new home.

Redskins released CB DeAngelo Hall.
The expected move clears $8 million in cap space. Hall has been a disappointment practically since the ink dried on the six-year, $55 million deal he signed in 2009, but his release leaves an already undermanned defense even thinner. The Redskins need to make multiple additions to their secondary this offseason. Going on 30, Hall is being thrust into a jam-packed cornerback market, essentially taking the retiring Chris Gamble's place. He should have plenty of suitors, but won't get guaranteed money beyond 2013.

The Washington Examiner's John Keim hears the Redskins will likely make DeAngelo Hall a "take it or leave it" offer.
ESPN's Adam Schefter mentioned Hall earlier on Thursday as a prime candidate for release, but the Redskins will likely ask him to take a drastic pay cut before severing ties altogether. If he rejects, then Hall will be given his pink slip and Washington will clear his $8 million cap number off the books.

On Thursday's SportsCenter, ESPN's Adam Schefter mentioned DeAngelo Hall as a prime candidate for offseason release.
Schefter grouped Hall with Nnamdi Asomugha and James Harrison. "The Redskins are over the salary cap," Schefter explained. "... Hall is scheduled to make $8 million, that would come off the books for next season. He will be a candidate that the Redskins will look at to try to get back underneath the salary cap." Washington is about $4 million over the cap. Cutting Hall would get them under.

Redskins CB DeAngelo Hall underwent surgery Tuesday to repair broken right pinkie finger.
According to the Washington Post, Hall played through the injury for "about half the season." The operation was reportedly to repair ligament damage. Hall is expected to begin rehabbing in roughly a month, which means he should be 100 percent for Washington's offseason program. The Redskins are expected to approach Hall about slashing his odious $7.5 million 2013 salary.

The Washington Post reiterated that DeAngelo Hall is open to restructuring his contract if need be but questions whether the Redskins even want him back.
Hall has two years left on a six-year contract and is due $7.5 million in 2013. After the Wild Card loss to the Seahawks, Hall said he'd do "whatever I gotta do to be here." The 29-year-old gave up over 1,000 yards to opposing receivers in his coverage, but Washington doesn't possess much better internal options at the moment.

DeAngelo Hall acknowledges that his scheduled $7.5 million salary may prevent him from returning to the Redskins next season.
Hall wants to stay with the Redskins and is open to restructuring his contract. "Whatever I gotta do to be here," said Hall. "I'm gonna try to get it done." Hall spent much of Sunday's playoff loss jacking his jaw and picking fights with Seahawks offensive players.

Redskins CB DeAngelo Hall was on crutches while nursing an ankle injury Tuesday.
Coach Mike Shanahan said there were no serious injuries in Monday night's win over the Giants. Hall said he plans to play Sunday versus the Ravens, but it's pretty clear that he won't be 100 percent. The Redskins will also be without suspended nickel corner Cedric Griffin.
