With new coach Rob Chudzinski's history of heavily utilizing the tight end, it's a poor bet Nelson will approach his 2011 stat line of 61/658/5 as the fourth option in the offense.

Nelson indicated on Twitter Monday that he's nearing a deal, and the Plain Dealer likely confirmed it with Nelson's agent. The oversized slot receiver is recovering from an ACL tear. He visited Browns headquarters late last week.

Nelson is a slot receiver, but Stevie Johnson is expected to have a more prominent role there in 2013. The only other experienced receivers on the roster are second-year speedster T.J. Graham and veteran Brad Smith. Look for Buffalo to be actively searching for a top receiver in the draft and/or free agency.
