The New York Post suggests the Buccaneers as a landing spot for free agent QB David Carr.
It's easy to connect dots from ex-Giants to the Bucs because Tampa Bay's defensive and offensive coordinators are both formerly Giants assistants. Carr will turn 34 before the season. If the Buccaneers truly have designs on bringing in legitimate competition for Josh Freeman, they'll aim higher than David Carr.

The Giants are expected to let free agent QB David Carr hit the open market.
ESPN New York reported last month that Carr was expected back as Eli Manning's backup, so it's a bit of a surprise. According to the New York Daily News, Carr wants to test his value, and "maybe see if he can battle for a job." We hope he's not holding his breath.

ESPN New York expects free agent David Carr to return as Eli Manning's backup in 2013.
With Manning entering his age-32 season in 2013, the Giants could decide to take a late-round flier on a potential successor as early as this year, but Carr should remain in New York for at least one more season. He's served as Manning's backup four of the past five years. The No. 1 pick of the 2002 draft has attempted just 61 passes since 2007.

Giants re-signed QB David Carr to an undisclosed contract.
The No. 1 overall pick of the 2002 draft talked with the Bucs on Tuesday, but will return to the team where he's spent three of the past four years as Eli Manning's backup. Carr did not attempt a pass in 2011, and has appeared in parts of just 16 games since the end of the 2006 season.

Free agent QB David Carr is reportedly no longer option in Tampa Bay.
Carr drew early interest Tuesday as a potential backup to Bucs starter Josh Freeman, but a signing isn't going to happen. He would have been following former QBs coach Mike Sullivan down to Tampa. Carr is expected to decide between the Giants and another interested team.

Giants signed QB David Carr, formerly of the 49ers.
Carr's best NFL success came in preseason action and a few relief stints with the Giants from 2008-2009. He's not a better quarterback than Sage Rosenfels, though. The 32-year-old will likely be just the third quarterback in New York.

David Carr will be released Thursday, a source tells CSN Bay Area.
By releasing Carr, the Niners will clear up $2.375 million in cap room. If they are going to make a serious run at Nnamdi Asomugha, that will certainly help. The Niners are ready to roll with Alex Smith and rookie Colin Kaepernick at quarterback.

49ers QB David Carr is not expected to be on the team's Opening Day roster.
Offensive coordinator Greg Roman recently suggested Carr could compete for the starting quarterback job, but that was obvious "coach-speak." Releasing Carr would take the 49ers off the hook for his $2.375 million salary. The Niners are expected to pursue a different veteran to push Alex Smith and Colin Kaepernick.
