A little over a month after signing him to their 53-man roster, the Bears have now decided to part ways with Evans. Unless he's claimed by another team during the current waiver period, he's set to become a free agent again.

After getting 25 combined touches combined Weeks 6 and 7, Evans received three carries and four targets over the past two games. With Khalil Herbert (ankle) appearing set to return to the lineup in Week 11, Evans may not have a spot on the game-day roster going forward.

Evans had a two-yard rush and two catches for 19 yards in the Bears' 24-17 loss to the Saints on Sunday.

After handling 25 touches in Weeks 6 and 7, Evans has seen his workload decrease in each of the last two weeks. He'll likely retain a minor role in the offense until Khalil Herbert (ankle) returns, which could be as soon as Week 10. Once Herbert is back, Evans may be a candidate to be inactive on game days.

Evans' workload is encouraging, but his role in the Chicago backfield in Week 8 against the Chargers will likely be dependent on the health of Roschon Johnson (concussion).
