Lions released DT Corvey Irvin. Irvin made three tackles in six games for the Cowboys last season but was released in March. It wasn't a good sign that he couldn't stick on arguably the league's shallowest defensive line in Dallas. Irvin just turned 29 this month.

Lions signed DT Corvey Irvin, formerly of the Cowboys. Irvin was released by the Cowboys last week. Irvin appeared in only six games last season, notching three tackles. Two months shy of his 29th birthday, Irvin will need an impressive camp to crack the 53-man roster.

The Panthers are now down to 70 players; this is no easy process. Burney and Adams are expected to receive practice squad consideration in Carolina. Adams was Cam Newton's pal at Auburn. Irvin has busted as a former third-round pick.
