Cooper Rush
QB BAL (7)
Sun 10/9/22 9:54 PM

Rush completed 10 of 16 passes for 102 yards without a touchdown or interception in Sunday's 22-10 win over the Rams.
EDGE Analysis
He also lost one yard on four carries. The 28-year-old quarterback had a poor performance from a fantasy perspective, but Rush didn't need to be a hero with the defense and running game carrying the load. Dak Prescott (thumb) has yet to show the progress in his recovery needed in order to get back on the field, which likely leaves Rush under center once again in Week 6 in what's become a huge NFC East showdown with the undefeated Eagles.

Rush is set to make his fourth straight start Sunday against the Rams with Dak Prescott (thumb) having yet to make enough progress in his recovery to play this weekend, Michael Gehlken of The Dallas Morning News reports.
EDGE Analysis
Dallas formally signed Will Grier -- who had backed up Rush in each of the previous three contests -- from the practice squad Tuesday, which supports the notion that Prescott isn't on track to be available even as an emergency No. 2 option. A return Week 6 against the Eagles is still a realistic possibility for Prescott, but Rush will get at least one more chance to direct the Dallas offense. Rush has been a competent caretaker while leading the Cowboys to wins of the Bengals, Giants and Commanders. He has yet to commit a turnover this season and has completed 61.8 percent of his throws for 7.6 yards per attempt and four touchdowns.

Sun 10/2/22 5:11 PM

Rush completed 15 of 27 passes for 223 yards and two touchdowns against Washington on Sunday. He also rushed twice for seven yards.
EDGE Analysis
While Rush's modest pass attempt volume is reflective of his game-manager limitations, he continues to play very clean football and makes the throws he needs to. CeeDee Lamb (six catches for 97 yards and one touchdown on eight targets) was highly effective, and Rush conducted two of Dallas' biggest plays in the game with a 45-yard pass to Noah Brown and a nine-yard touchdown to Michael Gallup. Although Dak Prescott (thumb) might return in Week 5, at the very least Rush has shown the Dallas offense can remain functional under his leadership.

Rush completed 21 of his 31 pass attempts for 215 yards, one touchdown and no interceptions in Monday's 23-16 win over the Giants.
EDGE Analysis
Rush completed all five of his pass attempts for 64 yards on a drive that ended in an Ezekiel Elliott touchdown to tie the game late in the third quarter. One possession later, Rush completed seven passes for 65 yards and connected with CeeDee Lamb for a one-yard score to give the Cowboys the lead. Rush has been relied upon primarily as a game manager in the absence of Dak Prescott (thumb), but he has led the Cowboys to two victories in each of his two starts.

Sun 9/18/22 9:37 PM

Rush completed 19 of 31 passes for 235 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 20-17 win over the Bengals.
EDGE Analysis
The backup quarterback remarkably won his second straight start for Dallas after he guided the team to a Week 8 victory last year against Minnesota. Much of Rush's production came in a dynamic first quarter that saw the Cowboys jump out to a 14-3 lead, including a nine-yard TD strike to Noah Brown, but after the Bengals rallied to tie it 17-17 late in the fourth, he led his squad on a final scoring drive with less than a minute left to set up a game-winning field goal by Brett Maher. With Dak Prescott (thumb) sidelined for at least a couple more games and probably longer, Rush will get a chance to prove he's more than a one-game wonder in Week 3 against a Giants defense that just held Baker Mayfield to less than 150 passing yards.

Rush, who is expected to start Sunday against the Bengals, signed a contract with the Cowboys on Saturday, Todd Archer of ESPN.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Rush was technically on the practice squad and previously was a Week 1 call-up, but the Cowboys quickly rectified the issue by officially signing the backup to the 53-man squad. Rush is expected to start Sunday against the Bengals, with Will Grier projected to act as his backup.

Rush is expected to step in as Dallas' starting quarterback beginning with Sunday's game against the Bengals, as Dak Prescott is likely to miss 6-8 weeks after undergoing surgery Monday to address a fractured right hand, Todd Archer of ESPN.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Prescott exited in the fourth quarter of the Cowboys' season-opening 19-3 loss to Tampa Bay after suffering the injury when he struck the outstretched hand of Buccaneers defender Shaquil Barrett while attempting a pass. Rush stepped in to finish the contest, completing seven of 13 passes for 64 yards while taking two sacks. Once Prescott officially is placed on injured reserve in the coming days, Rush -- who was elevated from the practice squad Sunday -- is expected to be formally added to the 53-man roster. Will Grier is another candidate to be promoted from the practice squad to provide depth at QB, but during Prescott's absence, expect Dallas to look outside the organization to add at least one more quarterback to the 53-man roster or the practice squad to restore numbers at the position. Over 11 contests (but only one start) during his six-year NFL career, Rush has been a capable game manager with a 60.3 percent completion rate (38-for-63) for 7.7 yards per attempt, three touchdowns and one interception, but he doesn't present much of a threat as a scrambler and is likely to preside over a run-heavy offense led by Ezekiel Elliott and Tony Pollard. Rush's fantasy appeal will be limited to two-quarterback and superflex formats, and he may be only a low-end lineup option even in those formats while he's serving as Dallas' starter.

Rush has been called up to the Cowboys' 53-man roster ahead of their Week 1 game against the Buccaneers, Todd Archer of ESPN.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Although he was named the team's No. 2 quarterback behind Dak Prescott, Dallas has kept Rush on its practice squad until now. The 28-year-old will now be available under center should anything ultimately happen to Prescott.

Rush will back up Dak Prescott to begin the season, Calvin Watkins of The Dallas Morning News reports.
EDGE Analysis
While Rush is currently on the practice squad as part of some roster juggling shenanigans by the Cowboys, the 28-year-old will be promoted to the active roster ahead of Week 1's game against the Buccaneers. Rush started only one game last season but made it count, leading Dallas to a Week 8 win in Minnesota.

Rush has signed with Dallas' practice squad, Michael Gehlken of The Dallas Morning News reports.
EDGE Analysis
Rush was competing with Will Grier for the backup quarterback position behind Dak Prescott during training camp. The team ultimately opted to cut both and keep Prescott as the lone quarterback on the 53-man roster. The team will likely call up one of the two to be the emergency backup come Week 1.
