Johnson (hamstring) is practicing Friday, Mike Jurecki of FOX Sports 910 Phoenix reports.
EDGE Analysis
Johnson only missed one week of practice, but given that he's been with the Cardinals for less than two weeks, the minor injury may have already hurt his chances to earn a significant role by Week 1. He'll hope to play in Sunday's preseason game against the Raiders as he competes with David Johnson for whatever snaps don't go to Andre Ellington.

Johnson (hamstring) fit in a test run Thursday to determine if he can return to practice Friday, Darren Urban of the Cardinals' official site reports.
EDGE Analysis
Johnson initially sustained a sore hamstring last Thursday, missing last Saturday's preseason game and every practice in the interim. With the potential for a return Friday, he would set himself up for his first game action as a Cardinal on Sunday. If such a development is delayed, though, Johnson would likely fall further behind rookie David Johnson in the quest for primary backup RB duties to Andre Ellington.

Johnson (hamstring) could return to practice by the end of the week, Kent Somers of the Arizona Republic reports.
EDGE Analysis
Prior to Saturday's preseason game against the Chargers, Johnson was ruled out due to a sore hamstring, which was soon accompanied by a 1-to-2 week recovery timetable. However, head coach Bruce Arians upgraded the veteran running back to day-to-day Monday, and he's presumably drawing closer to a return to drills. Johnson would likely do himself a favor with an appearance Sunday at Oakland, but there's no guarantee that he'll achieve active status, thereby allowing rookie David Johnson further opportunity to lock down the primary backup role to Andre Ellington.

Following the NFL draft, Johnson remains a free agent. For now, there doesn't seem to be much free agent interest in Johnson, who was let go by the Jets in February, though the Dallas Morning News relays that Johnson himself suggests that he might be a good fit for the Cowboys, who did not draft a running back despite losing DeMarco Murray in free agency. Per NFL.com, Johnson, who sustained a gun shot wound to his shoulder during a March 8 incident in Florida, has resumed working out and doesn't appear to be exhibiting any lingering effects from the injury. At this stage, the Cowboys suggest that they are comfortable with their current backfield corps, but Johnson could draw some interest as the offseason progresses, once running back injuries mount.

Johnson, who was shot in the shoulder while he was a passenger in a vehicle that was fired upon early Sunday morning in Orlando, Fla., was released from the hospital on Monday, the Tennessean reports. The report relays via Johnson's publicist, EAGSportsManagement, that the running back is expected "to make a quick and full recovery and is looking forward to being back out on the field training as soon as possible." Johnson is scheduled to become a free agent on Tuesday after the Jets declined to pick up his contract option last month.

Johnson is recovering at an Orlando, Florida hospital after being shot in the shoulder while he was a passenger in a vehicle that was fired upon early Sunday morning, NFL.com reports. The report indicates that Johnson was described as being in stable condition following the incident, which reportedly injured another passenger and claimed the life of the driver of the vehicle. Johnson, who spent the 2014 NFL season with the Jets, is slated to become a free agent Tuesday, after the team declined his contract option in February.

The Jets declined the second-year option on Johnson's contract, making him a free agent, ESPN New York's Rich Cimini reports.Johnson underwhelmed in his lone season with the Jets, running for just 663 yards (4.3 YPC) and one touchdown while catching 24 passes for 151 yards and a score. He'll turn 30 in September and is nowhere near the player he used to be, but he ought to find work of some sort if he looks for it. With that said, Johnson's chances of earning much in the way of pay or playing time don't seem good. There's a big surplus of running back talent in both the draft and free agency. Among several other notables, all of DeMarco Murray, Justin Forsett, Ryan Mathews, Roy Helu, Mark Ingram, Knowshon Moreno, Stevan Ridley and Shane Vereen are also free agents.

Johnson was arrested in Orlando on Friday for opening carrying of a firearm, ESPN New York's Rich Cimini reports. The charge is a second-degree misdemeanor. The exact scenario behind Johnson's arrest isn't yet clear, and the Jets have yet to comment on the situation. Assuming he doesn't have any other recent disciplinary infractions with the league, the charge doesn't appear to be the sort of thing to cause a big impact in itself. It might cast a slight bit of uncertainty regarding his standing in an organization that figures to see some turnover this offseason, though. Johnson has one year left on the two-year deal he signed with the Jets in April of 2014, so the team has no long-term investment in him.

Johnson (knee) had 10 carries for 20 rushing yards and one catch on two targets for minus-3 receiving yards during Sunday's 37-24 win over the Dolphins. Johnson's season concludes with just 663 rushing yards this season, the first of his career without reaching the 1,000-yard mark. He scored only one touchdown this year while constantly splitting time with Chris Ivory, both of whom have one year left on their contracts with the Jets. It's unclear if they'll keep them both, but their fantasy upsides will continue to be limited if they both stick around.

Johnson (knee) had 10 carries for 30 rushing yards and one catch on one target for three receiving yards during Sunday's loss to the Patriots. Johnson finished with one fewer carry than Chris Ivory, though the latter gained 53 yards versus Johnson's 30. Johnson's streak of games without a touchdown has now reached 11, and he has only one game this season with more than 70 rushing yards. He'll continue to split carries with Ivory, though the two could be heavily used in Week 17 against the Dolphins, who are allowing the third-fewest passing yards per game this season, but allow the 11th-most rushing yards per contest.
