Johnson is nursing a minor knee injury and the Panthers are electing to play it safe by holding him out of practice. There's not much concern about Johnson's status for the Super Bowl barring any setbacks.

The Panthers don't want Johnson (hamstring) to play more than 30 snaps in Thursday's game against the Cowboys, Joe Person of the Charlotte Observer reports.
EDGE Analysis
Johnson will be activated from IR/designated to return at some point Tuesday, setting him up to play in a game for the first time since Week 3. He should be a solid IDP option for Week 13, but owners can probably do better for Week 12, given that Johnson will be limited.

Johnson (hamstring) will be activated from IR/designated to return on Tuesday, Steve Reed of the Associated Press reports.
EDGE Analysis
Johnson may still need to practice, but it sounds as if he's expected to return for Thursday's game against the Cowboys. His return would provide a big boost for a defense that got along just fine without him.

Johnson (hamstring) has been placed on injured reserve/designated to return, ESPN's Adam Caplan reports.
EDGE Analysis
Johnson was already expected to miss multiple games, and he can now officially be ruled out until Week 12. Although it's still a huge loss for the Carolina defense, the Panthers did trade for DE Jared Allen to mitigate the impact of Johnson's absence. Allen's name may carry more weight, but Johnson is the far superior player at this stage in their respective careers.

Johnson (hamstring) has been ruled out of the Panthers' upcoming Week 4 game against the Buccaneers.
EDGE Analysis
Johnson suffered a significant hamstring injury during Sunday's win over the Saints and will consequently miss Carolina's Week 4 contest. While the Panthers' Week 5 bye allows Johnson another week to get healthy, it remains to be seen whether his injury will hamper him beyond the next couple weeks.

Johnson sustained a hamstring injury Sunday against the Saints and could miss "several" weeks, Joe Person of the Charlotte Observer reports.
EDGE Analysis
Johnson left in the second half with only one assisted tackle on the ledger, bringing his season-long line to five tackles (two solo) and one sack. His diagnosis should be known within the next few days, but Mario Addison and Wes Horton (shoulder) are present to pick up the slack at defensive end in Johnson's stead.

Johnson (calf/upper back) will miss the Panthers' preseason finale against the Steelers on Thursday Joseph Person of the Charlotte Observer reports.
EDGE Analysis
Johnson will have missed the entirety of the preseason a year after sitting out the Panthers' final three exhibition games in 2014 and subsequently getting off to a sluggish first month in the regular campaign that saw him held without a sack. The calf and upper back maladies responsible for Johnson's absence this year, both suffered in practice, currently leave his status for the team's Week 1 tilt against the Jaguars worth monitoring.

Johnson, who has been dealing with a calf injury, said he will definitely be ready for Week 1 against the Jaguars, Steve Reed of the Associated Press reports.
EDGE Analysis
Johnson returned to practice Wednesday, and appears to be on pace to start in the regular season opener at defensive end. It's possible the Panthers will continue to keep him out of preseason action in order to ensure a full recovery from soreness in his calf.
