Redskins activated CB Cedric Griffin from the reserve/suspended list. Griffin returned to practice Wednesday, and expects to play in Sunday's Wild Card game. However, the Washington Post reports no decision has been made about his status. Operating primarily as Washington's nickel back before his four-game suspension, Griffin notched 33 tackles in nine games. He graded out essentially neutral in Pro Football Focus' ratings.

Redskins CB Cedric Griffin has been suspended four games for violating the NFL's policy on performance enhancing substances. Most of these suspensions have been for Adderall, though that's not confirmed in Griffin's case. The suspension kicks in immediately, which means Griffin will miss the final four games of the regular season. He had been playing in nickel packages as the third cornerback. Rookie Richie Crawford is the top candidate to take his place.

Redskins CB Cedric Griffin (hamstring) and SS Brandon Meriweather (knee) will not play in Sunday's game against the Falcons. The reinforcements for the Redskins' 31st-ranked secondary aren't walking through the door this week. They'll once again have to roll with rookie seventh-rounder Richard Crawford and Reed Doughty for heavy snaps. It's a dream matchup for Matt Ryan and the Falcons' passing game.

Redskins CB Cedric Griffin (hamstring) has been ruled out for Week 4 against the Bucs. Washington's pass defense was already getting blown apart by opposing passing games with Griffin in the lineup. It could get even worse now. Look for a big Week 4 game from Vincent Jackson, who should run free through the Redskins' secondary as so many receivers before him have early this season.

Redskins CB Cedric Griffin left Sunday's Week 3 game against the Bengals in the first quarter with a hamstring injury. Griffin is questionable to return. Rookie seventh-rounder Richard Crawford has come on as the nickel back.

Redskins signed CB Cedric Griffin to a one-year, $2.5 million contract. Part of the Vikings' veteran purge last weekend, Griffin lands with a team that already has two veteran, starting cornerbacks under contract in DeAngelo Hall and Josh Wilson. Griffin has torn both of his ACLs since January 2010, but arguably had his best year since 2008 last season. Even if he is the Redskins' nickel back, he should be in line for plenty of snaps. It's also possible he could see time at safety. Washington has a much bigger need in its safety corps than at corner, and the Vikings were mulling a position switch before cutting Griffin loose.

Free agent CB Cedric Griffin will visit the Redskins on Friday. DeAngelo Hall and Josh Wilson are both still under contract in Washington, so Griffin either wouldn't be a starter or the Redskins would be making a move or shuffling the depth chart. Griffin has yet to line up any other known visits.

Vikings released CB Cedric Griffin. Griffin was set to make $4.1 million after struggling in 2011, but ESPN's Josina Anderson reports the Vikes hope to re-sign at a lower salary. Between the release of Griffin and guards Steve Hutchinson and Anthony Herrera, the Vikings have cleared roughly $13 million in cap space. Griffin was an asset against the run last season, but struggled in coverage and with penalties. His release speaks volumes about his play since the Vikings could be without CB Chris Cook in 2012 depending on the outcome of his domestic assault trial.

Vikings CB Cedric Griffin reportedly left Minnesota at season's end "with no anticipation of coming back." Griffin emptied the contents of his locker into the trash four days after putting his Eden Prairie house up for sale. After reportedly struggling to stay disciplined within the Vikings' Tampa-2 scheme last season, Griffin will likely be released to avoid a $4.1 million salary.

Vikings CB Cedric Griffin reportedly has "no desire" to return to the team on a restructured contract. Griffin is a poor bet to remain on the Week 1 roster at $4.1 million, but the Vikings could opt to keep him around as insurance until they find an upgrade in free agency or via the draft.
