Brate now has multiple grabs in three of the past four contests, although Sunday's tally represented his best figure during that period.

Brate's visit to the end zone was his first since January's NFC Championship Game win over the Packers, but his volatile week-to-week production and the potential return to action of Rob Gronkowski (back) in Week 11 against the Giants makes him a risky proposition in fantasy.

It seems evident at this point that fantasy managers should have very low expectations for Brate even if Gronkowski remains out Week 10 against Washington following the Week 9 bye.

It was a thoroughly disappointing afternoon for the veteran tight end, considering he logged a solid 40 snaps and yet came up empty. Brate has two or fewer catches in three of his past four contests, and with Rob Gronkowski (ribs) possibly back for the Week 8 battle against the Saints, his outlook may not brighten anytime soon.

Even if the playing-time split between Brate and Howard remains relatively equitable again Week 5, the former profiles as the more fantasy-friendly option.
