Rams rookie WRs Brian Quick and Chris Givens didn't see a single target from Sam Bradford in preseason action. Brandon Gibson will enter the season as the third receiver behind starters Steve Smith and Danny Amendola. Smith was Bradford's preseason target leader. Coordinator Brian Schottenheimer has never made liberal use of three- and four-wide sets, so Quick and Givens could be inactive early in the season.

Rams rookie WR Brian Quick exited Saturday night's preseason game in the third quarter due to back spasms. The Rams said he was fine after the game. Seeing some first-team snaps but playing mostly with the Kellen Clemens group, Quick hauled in three receptions for 20 yards against the Chiefs Saturday night, and also had a 10-yard touchdown catch nullified by penalty. Quick may not open the season as a starter, but he figures to develop into one sooner rather than later.

Sam Bradford suggested the light bulb has finally flipped on for second-round WR Brian Quick. After a slow start to camp, Quick has been outstanding in back-to-back practices this week. We'll be eager to see how Quick handles himself against the Chiefs Saturday night after struggling noticeably versus the Colts' suspect cornerbacks in the preseason opener.

Brian Quick struggled to one catch for nine yards in Sunday's preseason opener. Per Post-Dispatch columnist Bernie Miklasz, Quick "couldn't handle the Colts' aggressive press coverage." The second-round rookie also looked slow coming in and out of breaks as he ran with the backups. It's not a surprise that Quick is raw after playing at mid-major Appalachian State.

Second-round WR Brian Quick is starting to come on after a slow start to his rookie training camp. Brandon Gibson (undisclosed) has missed a couple days of camp, allowing Quick to take advantage of some first-team reps. The Appalachian State certainly has the raw talent edge on the likes of Gibson, Steve Smith and Greg Salas. It remains to be seen exactly when he'll pass them on the depth chart.

The Rams official website confirms rookie WR Brian Quick "isn't being handed anything in terms of a starting job." The Rams are counting on Quick to play a major role in the passing game, but he's going to have to earn his depth-chart climb over the next month. After struggling in Sunday's practice, Quick bounced back Monday with his best showing since rookie camp opened last week. The St. Louis Post-Dispatch notes that Quick "looks like he's determined to get himself ready to play and contribute as soon as possible."

Steven Jackson is publicly challenging rookie WR Brian Quick because the Rams plan to "lean heavily" on the second-rounder this season. "We're going to need someone on the outside to make plays," said Jackson. "And I'm challenging him right now because we're going to need him to prepare himself over the next six weeks to be a standout on this team." Quick has impressed with his physical gifts during OTAs, but S-Jax noted that he's still swimming in the playbook after coming from mid-major Appalachian State's spread offense. The Rams are "in love" with Quick to the extent that their personnel staff believe he's on par with Justin Blackmon.

Rams agreed to terms with No. 33 overall pick WR Brian Quick on a four-year contract. Rams WRs coach Ray Sherman compared Quick to Terrell Owens after putting the Appalachian State star through a pre-draft workout. Drafted to be Sam Bradford's go-to receiver, Quick went on to impress in post-draft practices with his hands, polish, smooth movement, and the ability to get in and out of his breaks. He's shaping up as a WR4 with upside in redraft formats.

Coach Jeff Fisher confirmed that the Rams anticipate No. 33 pick Brian Quick contributing immediately as a rookie. "We expect him to play and be a big part of our offense," Fisher said. "We don't think about it any other way. ... We wouldn't have taken him at the spot where we took him were we not convinced that he was one of those guys that could learn fast and help us very early in the season." Quick has been the early talk of Rams rookie minicamp for his dynamic movement skills at 6-foot-4, 220.

According to NFL.com's Ian Rapoport, the Rams are "insanely excited" about No. 33 pick WR Brian Quick. Rapoport spent Friday at the Rams' rookie minicamp, and says Quick "(moved) like a small guy" despite appearing bigger than his 6-foot-4, 220-pound frame. According to Rapoport, Quick turned in a drop-free afternoon. A favorite of NFL Films' Greg Cosell and expected to be the Rams' No. 1 receiver from jump street, Quick is quickly shaping up as one of 2012's buzz rookies.
