Maher and Lirim Hajrullahu will continue to get equal opportunities in camp as neither one has pulled ahead in the race to win the kicking job for the Cowboys, Michael Gehlken of The Dallas Morning News reports.

EDGE Analysis

Hajrullahu saw action with Dallas last season in Week 10, connecting on all five of his extra-point attempts without getting a field-goal attempt, but Maher has more NFL experience and played 29 games for the Cowboys in 2018-19. Unless one of them starts to impress, however, this battle may not be decided until after the final preseason contest -- and may even be won by a different kicker entirely, depending on who gets cut by other teams.

The Cowboys are signing Maher to replace fellow kicker Jonathan Garibay, who was waived Tuesday, Rob Phillips of the team's official site reports.

EDGE Analysis

Maher previously played for Dallas in 2018-19, converting 49 of 66 field-goal attempts (74.2 percent) and 68 of 69 PATs (98.6 percent). He made kicks from 62 and 63 yards during that time, but the inconsistency largely overshadowed his leg strength. Maher now will compete with Lirim Hajrullahu for the kicker job in Dallas.

Maher was waived by the Saints on Tuesday, Field Yates of ESPN reports.

EDGE Analysis

Maher kicked in eight games for New Orleans in 2021 and went 16-for-18 on field goals and 10-for-12 on PATs, but Wil Lutz (abdomen) is set to return after missing the entire campaign. Maher made only 67 percent of his field goals with the Cowboys in 2019, but he could receive some interest on the open market after performing well as an injury replacement for the Saints.

Maher converted 16 of 18 field-goal attempts and 10 of 12 PATs over eight games in 2021.

EDGE Analysis

In a quest to replace Wil Lutz (abdomen), the Saints went through a pair of kickers before Maher arrived on the scene. While Maher fared much better than Aldrick Rosas or Cody Parkey, he probably didn't do enough to make New Orleans consider moving on from Lutz's admittedly expensive contract.

Maher made four of four field-goal attempts but missed his lone PAT during Sunday's 18-10 win over Carolina.

EDGE Analysis

Maher has been one of the most active kickers in the league since Taysom Hill has taken over at QB. In four games with Hill as the starter, Maher has averaged three field-goal attempts per game with his only miss coming from beyond 50 yards. While he's now seven-for-nine on PATs through nine games, those blemishes can largely be overlooked given his otherwise perfect performance on short-to-mid range kicks. The Nebraska product will look to keep the good times rolling when New Orleans travels to Atlanta in Week 18.

Maher made his only field-goal attempt in Monday night's 20-3 loss to the Dolphins.

EDGE Analysis

Maher converted from 38 yards on his lone kick of the evening, scoring all of New Orleans' points for the game. He'll hope to get more chances in Week 17 versus the Panthers.

Maher converted three of three field-goal attempts during Sunday's 9-0 win over Tampa Bay.

EDGE Analysis

Neither team was able to get much going, but Maher was at least able to cap off three scoring drives from between 35 and 42 yards out. While fantasy owners have appreciated consecutive strong fantasy performances from the kicker, they should remember the three games before that when Maher totaled three field-goal attempts. He'll at least be a high-upside fantasy option when New Orleans matches up with Miami at home in Week 16.

Maher made all three of his field-goal attempts and all three of his extra-point tries in Sunday's 30-9 win over the Jets.

EDGE Analysis

Maher converted from 23, 31 and 37 yards on his field goals, racking up his best point total with the Saints. Despite his impressive performance Sunday, his upcoming matchup versus the Bucs may present him fewer scoring opportunities.

Maher made one of his two field-goal attempts and both of his extra points during Thursday's 27-17 loss to the Cowboys.

EDGE Analysis

Maher didn't start his night off great, as he missed a 56-yard field goal wide right during the Saints' second offensive drive of the game. However, the 32-year-old kicker was able to bounce back and connected on his remaining three kicks, including a 42-yarder that cut Dallas' lead to 13-10 in the second quarter. Since taking over in New Orleans, Maher has provided mediocre results, but his fantasy production remains severely impacted by the Saints' inability to move the ball without Alvin Kamara (knee).

Maher didn't attempt a field goal or PAT during Thursday's 31-6 loss to Buffalo.

EDGE Analysis

New Orleans' Trevor Siemian-led offense had immense difficulty moving the ball against the Bills' elite defense. When the Saints were finally able to find the end zone, they went for two. As long as Alvin Kamara (knee) is sidelined and Siemian remains under center, Maher shouldn't be considered for fantasy purposes.
