Pettigrew (foot) didn't participate in Wednesday's practice, the Lions' official site reports. According to MLive.com, Pettigrew emerged from Sunday's win versus the Saints with an injured foot, which places a cloud over his Week 7 availability. The Lions' tight end situation is dire, as both Eric Ebron (hamstring) and Joseph Fauria (ankle) are coming off inactive status and failed to practice Wednesday as well. As the week rolls along, monitor the trio's statuses, with the final injury report of the week forecasting Pettigrew's availability Sunday against the Falcons in London.

Pettigrew had four catches for 28 yards Sunday against the Saints. Pettigrew - and the tight end position generally - continue to be lightly utilized this season for the Lions. We've reached the point where it'd be tough to attribute it to anything other than an ongoing trend and no fluke. The tight end just likely is no longer the featured position it once was with the Lions.

Pettigrew may see an expanded role Sunday with Eric Ebron unlikely to play due to a hamstring injury. The Lions have not targeted Pettigrew more than three times in a game this season, thanks to the addition of Golden Tate as a more viable No. 2 receiver and the arrival of Ebron. Pettigrew played 49 snaps in Week 6, and should see an even larger role in the passing game as Calvin Johnson (ankle) was unable to practice all week and seems unlikely to play as well.

Pettigrew was held without a catch Sunday against the Packers. Pettigrew played 49 snaps, according to the Detroit Free Press, more than any other Lions tight end, but it didn't translate into production. That shouldn't be the case going forward, but the Lions' tight end situation is certainly something that is worth monitoring.

Pettigrew (foot) is active for Sunday's game against the Panthers. The Carolina defense is very strong (though they will be without Greg Hardy), so Pettigrew may be needed more on the line to protect quarterback Matthew Stafford than running routes.

Pettigrew (foot) is probable for Sunday's game against Carolina. Pettigrew practiced all week, so the foot injury isn't much of an issue. His poor receiving efficiency and matchup with the Panthers defense are both very much issues for his fantasy stock, however.

Pettigrew (foot) practiced in full Thursday, Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press reports. Along with running back Reggie Bush (knee), the duo was upgraded from limited participation, which intimates active status Sunday at Carolina. However, Pettigrew's value is in stasis, as he gathered in his only target for nine yards, while Calvin Johnson, Golden Tate, and Bush combined for 23 targets. Rookie tight end Eric Ebron figures to make his presence felt as the season rolls along, which may push Pettigrew to the wayside for good.

Pettigrew (foot) was a limited participant in practice Wednesday, Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press reports. Despite the offensive display put on by his fellow teammates Monday, Pettigrew was only targeted once en route to nine receiving yards. Rookie tight end Eric Ebron was held without a catch on two targets, as 23 were split among Calvin Johnson, Golden Tate, and Reggie Bush. As Ebron becomes more accustomed to his new confines, he could cut into Pettigrew's workload, hurting his already meager value. In any case, Pettigrew's availability for Week 2 in Carolina should be confirmed by the final injury report of the week.

Pettigrew caught his only target, a nine-yard reception, in Monday's Week 1 win over the Bears. Pettigrew faces more competition for targets at tight end this season, as Joseph Fauria is entering his second professional campaign and the Lions selected Eric Ebron 10th overall in this year's draft. As the veteran of Detroit's tight end options, Pettigrew is expected to see significantly more targets in subsequent games, but his week-to-week involvement could prove frustrating for fantasy owners on certain occasions.

Pettigrew started Saturday's preseason opener against the Browns but did not get any targets. Pettigrew may still garner a good numbers of snaps this season, but the competition for targets will be fierce. That one guy Calvin Johnson always seems to draw the lion's share of Matt Stafford's attention, and Detroit finally added a solid second receiver in Golden Tate. More importantly for Pettigrew, fellow tight end Eric Ebron was selected in the first round of May's draft. What's more, 6-7 TE Joseph Fauria is still with the team, after doubling Pettigrew's seven red-zone targets last season. The Lions simply have too much receiving talent for the shaky-handed Pettigrew to see much of the ball.
