The Cardinals' website confirms Beanie Wells (turf toe) is "on track" to play when eligible to return from injured reserve in Week 12. Wells insisted nearly two weeks ago that there was "no doubt" he would play against the Rams in Week 12. He's been practicing since last Wednesday and says the time off has helped his surgically-repaired knee. Expected to reclaim the starting job, Wells has plus matchups in Weeks 12-13.

Beanie Wells insists (turf toe, I.R./designated for return) he felt better after Wednesday's return to practice than he's felt in more than a year. "You're going to see the vintage Beanie Wells. The real deal," said Wells, adding that the time off has done wonders for his surgically-repaired knee. The Cardinals desperately need Wells back in the lineup. Thanks to a woeful offensive line, though, they don't a single back with at least 25 carries and a per-carry average of 3.0 yards or more.

Beanie Wells (turf toe, I.R./designated for return) participated in Wednesday's practice. Wells was likely limited to side work, but it's excellent news for a player who went down in Week 3. Currently on injured reserve/designated for return, Wells is not eligible to return until Week 12. Wells should immediately resume feature-back duties upon his reinstatement. The time to stash him in fantasy leagues is now.

Beanie Wells (turf toe) insists there's "no doubt" he will play versus the Rams when eligible to return from injured reserve in Week 12. Per NFL rules for the new I.R. exception, Wells is permitted to resume practicing on Wednesday. The Cardinals are on bye this week, so La'Rod Stephens-Howling and his 2.7 YPC average have just one more game at Atlanta as the featured back. Although Beanie has a grueling fantasy playoff schedule (SEA, DET, CHI, SF), he should be plucked from the waiver wire this week.

Beanie Wells (turf toe) remains on target to return in Week 12 against the Rams. Wells was placed on injured reserve designated for return, and due to that tag, the Week 12 game is the that's he's eligible to return for. Beanie will quickly reclaim feature back duties from an uninspiring backfield that consists of La'Rod Stephens-Howling carrying the full load. He'll have easy matchups with the Rams and Jets right out of the chute, but the schedule stiffens for the stretch run with the Lions, Seahawks, and Bears.

Beanie Wells (turf toe) remains on track to return in Week 12. Wells is reportedly running well and is expected to return to practice next week. Per the "designated for return" IR tag, he's not eligible to play in a game until Nov. 25. Wells will quickly resume feature back duties on early downs. "There's no question he makes a difference in the run game because of his size-speed combo, and that would help us," coach Ken Whisenhunt said. Fantasy owners should note that Wells' late-season schedule is brutal. He'll face the Seahawks, Lions and Bears in Weeks 14, 15 and 16 respectively.

Beanie Wells (turf toe) said he feels like he's "ready to go right now." Wells isn't eligible to come off the "designated for return" injured reserve list until Week 12. But if he's truly 100 percent then, he could hit the ground running with a major role. The Cardinals are currently using 5'7/185 La'Rod Stephens-Howling and William Powell in their backfield.

The Cardinals' website confirms that Beanie Wells (turf toe, I.R.) is ineligible to return before November 25 -- Arizona's Week 12 game. Wells could offer some late-season fantasy value with Ryan Williams (shoulder surgery) done for the season, but he's not going to be back for nearly two more months. The Cardinals will ride a backfield committee of La'Rod Stephens-Howling, William Powell, and Alfonso Smith for now, while scouring the free agent market. Free agent Tim Hightower would be a sensible option, although it's unclear how far he is along in his latest knee rehab.

It is not believed that Beanie Wells (toe) will need surgery. Wells' injury is being described as "severe turf toe." It's essentially a sprain or tear of the ligaments around the big toe, causing an inability to push off from the joint. "With the type of injury [Wells] has, we anticipate six to eight weeks at least before he'll be ready to go," coach Ken Whisenhunt said. "So if you look at where we still have games left, it will be good to have him back at that point."

Cardinals assigned RB Beanie Wells (turf toe) the "designated for return" tag on injured reserve. Alfonso Smith has been signed to take his roster spot. It's a crushing blow for Wells' owners, as he can't resume practicing for six weeks, and won't be eligible to return until Week 12 against the Rams. It leaves Ryan Williams as the bell-cow back in Arizona's backfield after he rolled up 83 yards on 13 carries against the Eagles last week. Considering Wells' injury history and the fact that Williams could run with his job during his absence, he's not a "must hold" if you're desperate for a roster spot. Ever banged up, Wells will be entering the final year of his rookie contract in 2013.
