The Jaguars are slated to sign Armstead (knee) on Thursday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.
EDGE Analysis
Armstead, whose deal is reportedly for three years and $51 million, per Adam Schefter of ESPN, immediately becomes a linchpin of Jacksonville's defensive front, fixing a huge need for the team along the interior of the defensive line. The 30-year-old is recovering from surgery undergone to address a torn meniscus, which he played through during the 49ers' postseason run.

Armstead (knee) was released by the 49ers on Wednesday.
EDGE Analysis
Releasing Armstead will save the team $18 million in cap space in 2024. The 49ers were interested in retaining the veteran defensive tackle, but they will go their separate ways after failing to agree on a restructured deal. Armstead is recovering from surgery on a torn meniscus through which he played during the postseason, but he's expected to have a robust market in free agency nonetheless. San Francisco agreed to a trade for Texans defensive tackle Maliek Collins to help fill the hole created by Armstead's departure.

The 49ers are expected to release Armstead in the coming days, Jordan Schultz of BleacherReport.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Armstead is entering the final year of his five-year, $85 million deal and carries a 2024 cap hit of greater than $28.3 million, third-highest on the 49ers. By designating Armstead as a post-June 1 cut, the Niners would clear over $18 million in cap space, leaving behind $10.3 million in dead money. The 30-year-old missed five more games in 2023 after missing eight the previous season. He has just 14.5 sacks since recording 10 in 2019.

EDGE Analysis

Armstead (foot/knee) doesn't have an injury designation on the 49ers' final injury report ahead of Sunday's Super Bowl matchup with the Chiefs.
EDGE Analysis
After back-to-back limited practices to start the week, Armstead logged a full workload Friday. Barring any setbacks with his foot and knee injuries, he should take on his usual role on the interior defensive line.

Armstead (foot/knee) was limited in Wednesday's practice, David Lombardi of The Athletic reports.
EDGE Analysis
Coach Kyle Shanahan said he hopes both Armstead and George Kittle (toe) will be able to get in full practices Thursday. Neither player sounds to be in any real danger of missing Sunday's Super Bowl against the Chiefs. Armstead played his normal allotment of snaps (74 percent) two weeks ago against the Lions in the NFC Championship Game.

Armstead (foot/knee) did not participate in Friday's practice but doesn't have an injury designation after the first week of prep for Super Bowl LVIII against the Chiefs, Josh Dubow of The Associated Press reports.
EDGE Analysis
The veteran defensive lineman has now logged back-to-back DNPs after opening San Francisco's week of practice with a full session, but it seems as if his foot and ankle issues won't stop him from suiting up for the Super Bowl. Even if Armstead is limited in practice next week, he appears to be ready to take on the Chiefs come Feb. 11.

Armstead (foot/knee) did not participate in practice Thursday.
EDGE Analysis
The starting defensive tackle was a full participant in Wednesday's session after playing in the 49ers' divisional playoff and NFC Championship wins over the Packers and Lions. Armstead did miss the final five games of the regular season with the same issues. The 30-year-old's status during Friday's session of the Super Bowl bye week will be worth monitoring.

Armstead (foot/knee) does not carry an injury designation ahead of Saturday's divisional-round matchup versus Green bay.
EDGE Analysis
Armstead was sidelined for the final five games of the season while tending to foot and knee issues. The stalwart defensive tackle logged a full practice for the second day in a row Thursday after opening the week of practice as a limited participant, and he'll be ready to go for the 49ers' opening playoff game. Armstead logged 27 tackles and five sacks over the first 12 games of the season, and he should reprise a primary role alongside Javon Hargrave and Sebastian Joseph-Day.
