Morris will be one of several running backs getting carries in Saturday's preseason tilt against the Texans, Matt Barrows of The Athletic reports.
EDGE Analysis
Morris was recently signed by the 49ers after both of the team's top backs went down due to injury. Both Jerick McKinnon (hamstring) and Matt Breida (shoulder) are expected to be ready for the regular season, so Morris will compete with a slew of other backs for third on the depth chart this preseason. Head coach Kyle Shanahan said he wants to split the carries evenly amongst the competing runners Saturday, so the back who gets goal-line looks -- assuming a touchdown is scored -- will likely end up being the top DFS producer.

Morris signed with San Francisco for the veteran's minimum, Field Yates of ESPN reports.
EDGE Analysis
The contract confirms Morris will need to battle for a spot on the 53-man roster, with his odds likely depending on the health of Jerick McKinnon (calf) and Matt Breida (shoulder). The 29-year-old's track record working with 49ers coach Kyle Shanahan in Washington can't hurt, but it won't be enough to ensure Morris of a job.

Morris is signing with the 49ers, pending a physical, Nick Wagoner of ESPN.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
With Jerick McKinnon (calf) and Matt Breida (shoulder) both banged up, Morris will join the 49ers in Houston for joint practices ahead of Saturday's preseason game against the Texans, though he may not be available for the contest. He'll reunite with Kyle Shanahan, who presided over the Washington offense while Morris piled up 2,888 rushing yards during his first two years in the league. Given his proficiency in zone-heavy run schemes as well as his average of 4.8 yards per carry with Dallas last season, Morris could be in the mix for a bit of regular-season work even if McKinnon and Breida are healthy for Week 1. Of course, the 29-year-old will first need to focus on earning a spot on the 53-man roster, which won't be easy if his new teammates recover from their respective injuries in short order.

The Jets are visiting with Morris on Saturday, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
EDGE Analysis
Morris has been available since free agency opened in March, but with an injury hitting the Jets' Elijah McGuire (foot) on Friday, the veteran has earned his first known phone call from an organization. In two seasons with the Cowboys, Morris averaged 4.3 YPC on 184 rushes, but his lack of receiving chops (just 10 catches on 15 targets during that span) don't make him a candidate to see the field on obvious passing downs, wherever he may land.

Morris remains unsigned, Mike Kaye of ABC First Coast News reports.
EDGE Analysis
Morris averaged 4.8 yards on 115 carries for Dallas last season, but he's 29 years old and has never shown any ability to contribute in the passing game. Given that he'll likely need to settle for a shot to compete for a backup job, he might prefer to hold off signing until August, at which point injuries will have thinned out the backfield depth charts for at least a few teams.

Morris finished the regular season with 115 carries for 547 yards and a touchdown.
EDGE Analysis
His 4.8 yards per carry average was his best mark since his rookie season in 2012. Kept on in Dallas as an insurance policy, Morris got his chance to shine while Ezekiel Elliott served a six-game suspension late in the season, with the high-water mark of his campaign being a 27-carry, 127-yard explosion against his former Washington club in Week 13. Morris will head into the offseason as an unrestricted free agent, and while he's highly unlikely to get any offers that would make him a full-time starter once again, he's proven his value as a backup or committee RB who can handle a big workload if necessary.

Morris is expected to settle into a reduced backup role over the Cowboys' final two games with Ezekiel Elliott set to return from a six-game suspension, Todd Archer of ESPN.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Elliott had been a three-down workhorse in the Cowboys' first eight contests prior to serving his suspension, limiting Morris to just 15 touches over that span. The veteran proved more than capable, however, when plugged into the starting lineup the past six contests, logging 99 carries for 430 yards (4.3 YPC) and a touchdown and six receptions for 36 yards. While Cowboys head coach Jason Garrett indicated that he would wait and see how Elliott looks in practice this week before determining the second-year player's workload for Sunday's game against the Seahawks, it would be surprising if the team acted conservatively with the star tailback while its playoff hopes hang in the balance. As a result, look for Morris to pick up only a handful of carries behind Elliott.

Morris rushed 16 times for 61 yards during Sunday's 20-17 victory over the Raiders.
EDGE Analysis
Morris didn't put on much of a finale in his last start before Ezekiel Elliott's return from suspension, as the Florida Atlantic product -- who entered the game averaging 4.4 yards per tote -- plodded his way to a 3.8 yard clip Saturday. He'll now finish his tenure as the interim starter having logged 430 rushing yards and one touchdown on 99 carries across six games. He's now likely headed back to No. 2 duties with Ezekiel Elliott returning from suspension for next Sunday's matchup with Seattle.

Morris carried 19 times for 62 yards and caught all three of his targets for an additional 23 yards during Sunday's 30-10 win over the Giants.
EDGE Analysis
Morris was held to just 3.3 yards per carry against a middling Giants run defense, but a season high in receiving yards helped him produce a respectable showing from scrimmage. While he managed a long gain of just nine yards, he watched as Rod Smith rumbled for 160 total yards and a pair of touchdowns on 11 touches. Morris continues to see the majority of the carries in Ezekiel Elliott's absence, but the emergence of Smith could limit his ceiling next week against the Raiders.

Morris rushed 27 times for 127 yards and a touchdown and failed to bring in his only target in Thursday's 38-14 win over the Redskins.
EDGE Analysis
Morris seemed to have a bit of extra juice in his step against his old teammates, which led to his best rushing yardage total of the season. The 28-year-old continued to display impressive efficiency with his opportunities as well, as he's now averaged between 4.7 and 5.4 yards per carry in three of the past four contests. His one-yard touchdown with 4:55 remaining was also his first since back in Week 3 of last season against the Bears. He'll look to capitalize on a vulnerable Giants defense in a Week 14 road matchup.
