Mack (concussion) was a non-participant during the Falcons' practice session Wednesday, Jason Butt of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.
EDGE Analysis
It's not clear how the six-time Pro Bowler sustained his concussion, as he fielded all 65 of Atlanta's offensive snaps during a 31-27 Week 15 loss to Tampa Bay. Having been entirely unavailable Wednesday, Mack is seemingly in danger of missing his first regular-season action since 2014. Over his other 11 NFL seasons, besides from 2014, the 35-year-old has never missed a game.

Mack (knee) was limited in practice throughout the week, but he does not carry an injury designation into Thursday night's matchup against Carolina, Will McFadden of the Falcons' official site reports.
EDGE Analysis
The Falcons have provided Mack with a number of rest days throughout the first half of 2020, so holding him back in practice may have been little more than a precautionary measure. The six-time Pro Bowler has missed just one of 512 offensive snaps this season for Atlanta, once again demonstrating incredible durability. He hasn't sat out a regular-season game since the start of 2015, and he'll be ready to go Thursday night against a Carolina defense that is tied for last in the NFL with 0.9 sacks per game.

Coach Dan Quinn said that Mack will have some limitations to his workload during training camp, Vaughn McClure of ESPN.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
There isn't a specific injury to note here, as Mack will instead just be receiving some maintenance days periodically as he heads into his age-35 campaign. Mack dealt with an elbow injury in the first quarter of the 2019 regular season, but he ultimately played a full 16-game slate to extend his streak to five consecutive years without missing a start. As Mack works in and out of the rotation during the lead up to Week 1, rookie third-round draft pick Matt Hennessy will see more first-team reps before yielding the starting role to Mack in time for Atlanta's Week 1 matchup with Seattle.

The Falcons are committing to using an outside-zone run scheme more extensively this season, after only dabbling in it the last three seasons since Kyle Shanahan left to coach the Niners, D. Orlando Ledbetter of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports. The development encouraged Mack, who has thrived in the system before: "I think it's an emphasis of the whole offense to make sure that's something that we want to be really good at," Mack said. "So, in order to run the wide zone you have to have a full commitment of all of the guys on the field to make that work. It is a really powerful offense. It's something that we have a lot of experience with."
EDGE Analysis
The Falcons averaged only 85.1 rushing yards per game and 3.8 yards per carry last season, and much of that struggle could be attributed to offensive line issues last year, though DeVonta Freeman's various injuries did not help. This development should be an encouraging factor for Todd Gurley's potential production.

Mack is focusing on preparation for Atlanta's 2020 season and is "taking it one year at a time" after the Falcons drafted Matt Hennessy in the third round of April's draft, Vaughn McClure of ESPN.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
The 34-year-old isn't in danger of losing his starting spot at center any time in the near future, having earned Pro Bowl nods in four of the past five seasons while starting in all 80 of his team's regular-season games during that span. Mack is, however, entering his 13th NFL campaign, and the Falcons are making preparations for his eventual departure. Mack is discounting no option at this point, but a decision on his future with the organization will have to be made at season's end, as his five-year, $45 million deal is set to expire in March.

Mack suited up for all 16 of the Falcons' games during 2019, allowing two sacks and committing nine penalties while playing 1,156 offensive snaps.
EDGE Analysis
The 34-year-old center saw his streak of four consecutive Pro Bowl nominations come to an end during 2019, but he nevertheless continues to be a durable and formidable presence along the interior of Atlanta's offensive line. Since becoming a Falcon in 2016, Mack has suited up for all 53 of the team's regular-season and postseason games, and this year he played at least 98 percent of Atlanta's offensive snaps in 15 of 16 appearances. In 2020 Mack will play out the final frame of his five-year, $45 million contract at a cap hit of $10.5 million.

Mack (elbow) is not listed on the Falcons' injury report ahead of Sunday's game versus the Texans.
EDGE Analysis
Mack's presence will be needed against a tough Texans defensive line. The veteran should take on his usual workload assuming he avoids any setbacks. Wes Schweitzer is the backup option should that happen, though for now all signs point toward Mack being close to full health.

Mack (elbow) was a limited practice participant Thursday after sitting out Wednesday's session, Jason Butt of The Athletic reports.
EDGE Analysis
The veteran center is trending in the right direction for Atlanta's upcoming Week 5 matchup against a Texans defense that wreaked havoc on the Panthers' offensive line Sunday, racking up three sacks on Kyle Allen and forcing three fumbles. Atlanta's offensive line has struggled in pass protection thus far in 2019, surrendering four-plus sacks in both Week 1 and Week 4. Having a team captain and six-time Pro Bowler in Mack active is crucial for the Falcons' chances of fending off the J.J. Watt-led Texans' front.

Mack (elbow) sat out the Falcons' practice session on Wednesday, per the team's official Twitter account.
EDGE Analysis
The six-time Pro Bowl center sustained the injury during Sunday's loss to Tennessee, but was able to return to action and garner 92 percent of Atlanta's offensive snaps. His presence in the lineup would be a huge benefit for a Week 5 matchup against the formidable Texans' front seven, with the Falcons looking to clean up pass protection after surrendering five sacks to the Titans on Sunday.

Mack suffered an elbow injury during Sunday's 24-10 loss to the Titans, Vaughn McClure of ESPN.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Mack briefly exited Sunday's loss to have his elbow examined, but he retook the field without missing much time. Wednesday's first injury report of the week should shed some light on the veteran center's chances of suiting up Week 5 against the Texans.
