Ayers has been suspended for the first four weeks of the 2018 season, Field Yates of ESPN reports.
EDGE Analysis
Ayers is currently an unrestricted free agent after finishing the 2017 season with the Giants. It's unclear exactly what his suspension is for, but his absence for the first month of the season may make it more difficult for him to catch on with a team for the start of the 2018 season.

Ayers signed with the Giants on Tuesday, Michael Eisen of the Giants' official site reports.
EDGE Analysis
The Giants continue to revamp their linebacking corps as Ayers is the third addition in the past two weeks. The veteran linebacker most recently played with the Colts last season, recording 21 tackles and two sacks across 16 games. Ayers could play a sizeable defensive role with his new team right out of the gates given the long list of injuries the Giants are currently dealing with.

Ayers has four tackles, a sack and a tackle for a loss in Sunday's loss to Jacksonville.
EDGE Analysis
Ayers played just 19 snaps, but his production could earn him more playing time.

Ayers was signed by the Colts on Tuesday, Adam Caplan of ESPN.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Ayers was cut by the Rams on Saturday after playing all 16 games last season, recording 47 tackles and 0.5 sacks. The Colts' starting linebackers seem to be set in stone for Week 1, but Ayers could play a role off the bench, granted he can learn the playbook in time. As the season progresses, look for him to compete with fellow veterans Robert Mathis and Trent Cole for reps.

Ayers was waived by the Rams, Alden Gonzalez of ESPN.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
This is a surprising move as it was thought Ayers would be a starter at outside linebacker. The five-year veteran started 11 games for the Rams in 2015, but Los Angeles lets him go, saving themselves $3.3 million in the process. At this point, who be the third linebacker alongside Alec Ogletree and Mark Barron is not known. The options remaining on the roster are Josh Forrest, Bryce Hager, Nic Grigsby and Cory LIttleton.

Ayers is expected to sign a two-year deal with the Rams, Jim Thomas of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports. Ayers spent last season in New England where he compiled 23 tackles, four sacks, and one interception over nine games. It's still unclear exactly what his role will be with the Rams, but he'll have an opportunity to start alongside Alec Ogletree and James Laurinaitis.

Ayers was traded to the Patriots on Tuesday, Jim Wyatt of The Tennessean reports. Ayers had merely served as a backup linebacker in Tennesssee, so he should see an opportunity to play more snaps in a group of New England linebackers that recently lost Jerod Mayo (knee) for the remainder of the season. The 25-year-old linebacker recorded 104 combined tackles back in 2012, but has managed just 33 total snaps so far this season. The deal will be finalized after Ayers passes his physical with New England.

Ayers is currently listed behind fellow linebacker Kamerion Wimbley on the Titans' depth chart. Ayers had offseason surgeries on both knees, but he hasn't been limited in training camp. He'll be battling Wimbley for playing time, and even if he doesn't start, the former second-round pick, who had only one sack in 16 games in 2013, is expected to see his fair share of snaps.

TitanInsider reports "there may be concerns about the timetable" of OLB Akeem Ayers' (knee surgeries) return to 100 percent. Ayers underwent two separate knee operations in the offseason to repair both of his patellar tendons, first on his right one in January and then his left one in March. He's tentatively expected to be ready for camp, but may not be full-go at the start. Ayers plans on playing outside linebacker in DC Ray Horton's new 3-4 defense. When healthy, he can cover and get after the quarterback.
