Barton excelled in a much-needed bounce-back game Wednesday. Danilo Gallinari's recent return to the lineup resulted in a slight dip in playing time for Barton, who averaged just seven points with 6.3 rebounds in a four-game span from Jan. 3 to Jan. 10. Barton, who has been an excellent fantasy option as a sixth man this season, will need more performances like Wednesday's to retain his minutes.

Barton scored 10 points (3-11 FG, 2-5 3Pt, 2-2 FT) and added eight rebounds, and three assists in 30 minutes during the Nuggets' 95-92 win over the Hornets on Sunday.

EDGE Analysis

Barton neared a triple-double last Saturday against the Warriors, forcing overtime with a clutch bucket and playing 50 minutes. In the four games since then, Sunday's victory versus the Hornets is the lone game he saw more than 26 minutes. Danillo Gallinari's return to the lineup didn't appear to negatively affect Barton last week against Golden State, but this week was a different story. Barton averaged seven points on 26 percent shooting to go with 6.3 rebounds, and 1.5 assists in 23 minutes per game over four match-ups. It's possible this was merely a bad week for Barton, but the fact that his playing time seemed to plummet is somewhat of a scary sign. Still, Will the Thrill has been one of the best sixth men in the league to date, and he could very well bounce back before too long.

Barton pitched in 21 points (8-25 FG, 1-8 3PT, 4-7 FT), 13 rebounds, seven assists and two steals over 50 minutes in Saturday's 111-108 overtime loss to the Warriors.

The 24-year-old endured a rough night from the field to nevertheless make outstanding contributions across the stat sheet while playing a season high in minutes. Although his shooting night qualified as his poorest since a 30 percent effort against the Mavericks back on Nov. 28, Barton's 13 boards (12 on the defensive glass) were a season high, as were the seven dimes he dished out. His active presence all over the court helped Denver keep pace with the amazing performance put forth by Draymond Green, and was almost enough to help the Nuggets pull off the road upset of the reigning champs. Barton has become an outstanding fantasy option despite technically coming off the bench, as his minutes and production continue to be starter-quality.

Barton posted 31 points (12-22 FG, 4-6 3Pt, 3-4 FT), five rebounds, four assists, and one steal in 36 minutes in Tuesday's 110-103 loss to the Blazers.

EDGE Analysis

Barton has been on fire lately, averaging 22.4 points, 6.2 rebounds, 3.6 assists, and 2.6 treys on 52 percent shooting from the field over the last five games. He's getting the ball on offense and clearly has the green light to shoot, so in spite of his role off the bench, he's all good to go for strong fantasy lines with his big minutes.

Barton scored 29 points (11-20 FG, 3-8 3Pt, 4-4 FT) with seven rebounds, two blocks, and an assist through 34 minutes in a 93-87 loss to the Cavaliers on Tuesday.

EDGE Analysis

Barton has received increased court time lately due to Danilo Gallinari's injury, and could even dig into starter Kostas Papanikolaou's minutes. One of Denver's most consistent sources of offense, Barton has now averaged 23 points with 7.3 boards over his last six games. As long as Barton continues receiving substantial minutes, he's a valuable DFS play.

Barton scored 19 points (8-16 FG, 1-6 3Pt, 2-3 FT) to go with five assists and five rebounds across 35 minutes in Sunday's 122-112 loss to the Thunder.

EDGE Analysis

The injury to Danilo Gallinari (ankle) has opened up increased minutes and offensive usage for Barton, who remains a leading candidate for Sixth Man of the Year due to his outstanding production off the bench. The 24-year-old has posted averages of 21.8 points, 7.4 rebounds, 4.2 assists, and 0.4 steals over the last five games, and should continue to deliver across-the-board production while his minutes remain in the mid-30s.

Barton posted 17 points (7-15 FG, 3-5 3Pt, 0-1 FT), nine rebounds, five assists, and one steal in 35 minutes in Wednesday's 104-96 win against the Suns.

EDGE Analysis

Barton is averaging 20.8 points, 7.4 rebounds, four assists, and 2.8 threes over the last five games. He seems to have found a rhythm of consistency, and it's pretty reasonable to expect him to keep this up for a while longer, as long as he's getting the minutes.

Barton scored 25 points (10-21 FG, 2-6 3Pt, 3-3 FT) with eight rebounds, two assists, and a block through 38 minutes in a 111-107 loss to the Lakers on Tuesday.

EDGE Analysis

Barton's sudden emergence as an offensive threat in Denver's backcourt is remarkable. After averaging 13.4 points over the first 19 games of the season, Barton has now posted an average of 20.4 points with seven boards over his last nine games; a span including a career-high 32 points on Dec. 20. Scoring 23 of his 25 points in the first half of Tuesday's game, Barton will hope his momentum carries over to Wednesday's match-up against the Suns.

Barton scored a career-high 32 points (12-25 FG, 7-11 3Pt, 1-1 Ft0 while adding 10 rebounds and six assists in 36 minutes off the bench during Sunday's loss to the Pelicans.

EDGE Analysis

It was a wild game, as Anthony Davis dominated the first quarter only to leave the game with an illness, at which point Barton, of all people, took over and led the Nuggets to a 43-point second quarter. While the points and threes were career highs, he's now scored in double digits in 12 straight games and is averaging 19.4 points, 7.0 boards, 3.0 assists, 2.2 threes and 1.2 steals in December. If Denver weren't five games below .500, Barton would be making a strong early case for the Sixth Man of the Year award.

Barton collected 16 points (5-13 FG, 1-6 3Pt, 5-6 FT), three rebounds, two assists and a steal over 23 minutes in Friday's 97-88 loss to the Jazz.

EDGE Analysis

The reserve shooting guard continues to pump out highly efficient performances in relatively limited minutes, posting his 11th straight double-digit scoring effort. Coach Mike Malone appears content in continuing to keep Barton coming off the bench, and the minutes allotment seems to suit the fourth-year pro just fine. He's now averaging 17.9 points over 31.4 minutes in eight December contests.
