The Knicks are intending to grant Matthews a buyout after Thursday's trade deadline passes, Mark Stein of The New York Times reports.
EDGE Analysis
It's not exactly clear when Matthews and the Knicks will part ways, but this report indicates that will occur at some point in the near future. Matthews figures to be a hot commodity on the free-agent market given his three-point shooting and experience, and he figures to garner interest from several contenders.

Matthews produced nine points (2-11 FG, 1-3 3Pt, 4-5 FT), five assists, two rebounds, one steal and one block in 25 minutes Tuesday in the Knicks' 105-92 loss to the Pistons.
EDGE Analysis
Matthews came off the bench for his team debut Sunday against the Grizzlies but moved into the starting five for this one, bumping Damyean Dotson to the second unit. For the second straight game, Matthews endured a rough shooting day and doesn't look to be a must-hold option outside of deeper fantasy formats even if he sticks on the top unit. That's far from guaranteed, however, as the Knicks would probably like to deal Matthews ahead of Thursday's deadline or buy him out of his contract at a later date if they can't find a trade partner.

Matthews is in the starting lineup for Tuesday's game against Detroit, Stefan Bondy of the New York Daily News reports.
EDGE Analysis
Matthews is set to make his first start since joining the Knicks, after logging a solid chunk of minutes (28) in his team debut off the bench Sunday against Memphis. With Matthews moving into the starting five, Damyean Dotson will bump down to a bench role.

Matthews put up five points (2-8 FG, 1-7 3Pt) and one rebound in 28 minutes off the bench Sunday in the Knicks' 96-84 loss to the Grizzlies.
EDGE Analysis
Making his team debut after Friday's blockbuster deal between the Knicks and Mavericks was finalized, Matthews somewhat surprisingly finished third on New York in minutes despite having no practice time with his new squad leading up to the contest. According to Mark Stein of The New York Times, the Knicks are looking to reroute Matthews elsewhere prior to Thursday's trade deadline, which suggests the big minutes he received may have been borne out of a desire to showcase him to other teams. Even if the Knicks aren't able to work out a trade prior to the deadline, there's a good chance New York buys out the money remaining Matthews' $18.62 million salary for 2018-19. No matter where Matthews finishes the season, it's difficult to imagine him consistently approaching the 29.8 minutes per game he's averaged through 45 outings.

Matthews will be available for Sunday's game against Memphis, Marc Berman of the New York Post reports.
EDGE Analysis
After coming over from the Mavericks via trade, Matthews will be available to make his Knicks debut, though it's unclear how much of a role he'll have with limited, if any, practice time with his new team. The veteran wing is considered a trade or buyout candidate as the deadline approaches, so this may not be his final stop. Regardless, the Knicks have publicly maintained that they intend to hang on to Matthews, so for the time being he'll join Allonzo Trier, Kevin Knox, Damyean Dotson and Mario Hezonja in the wing rotation.

Matthews will not play in Friday's game against the Celtics, Mike Vorkunov of The Athletic reports.
EDGE Analysis
This does not come as a shock given that Matthews was just dealt to the Knicks on Thursday in a blockbuster trade, and it remains unclear when he is going to make his New York debut. Matthews' time in New York, however, may not last for too long given the direction the Knicks are heading in, making him a potential candidate to be bought out or traded by the deadline. Given the state of the Knicks' backcourt, Allonzo Trier and Damyean Dotson should both see plenty of minutes against Boston.

Matthews was traded to the Knicks along with Dennis Smith and DeAndre Jordan in exchange for Kristaps Porzingis, Time Hardaway, Courtney Lee and Trey Burke, Shams Charania of The Athletic reports.
EDGE Analysis
Matthews' expiring contract was used to help the Knicks complete a salary dump as part of the Porzingis deal. And given the state of the Knicks, it's possible Matthews has very little desire to stick around in New York. The Knicks also have very little incentive to play a guy like Matthews given their desire to develop younger talent and get a high draft pick this offseason, so this may not be his final landing spot. Nevertheless, at this time, Matthews is by far the best shooting guard the team has, and his fantasy value is all contingent on how the Knicks decide to use him.

Matthews (wrist) will play Saturday's game against the Pacers, Brad Townsend of The Dallas Morning News reports.
EDGE Analysis
Matthews sustained a minor wrist injury during Thursday's tilt with San Antonio. He appears healthy and likely won't play under any restrictions. Through 38 games, the veteran guard is averaging 13.3 points, 2.4 rebounds, 2.4 assists and 2.3 threes in 30.1 minutes.

Matthews is questionable for Saturday's matchup against the Pacers due to a right wrist sprain, Tim MacMahon of ESPN.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
It's unknown when exactly Matthews suffered the wrist sprain and how severe the injury may be, but as a result, the Marquette product is officially deemed questionable heading into the contest Saturday. If the wrist sprain ultimately holds Matthews out of Saturday's game, Davin Harris and Jalen Brunson are candidates to see increased roles.

Matthews (foot) will start Monday against the Thunder, Bobby Karalla of the Mavericks' official site reports.
EDGE Analysis
Matthews missed the past two games while dealing with a sore right foot. His reentry back into the starting five means that Maxi Kleber will head back to the bench.
