The Pelicans acquired Snell, CJ McCollum and Larry Nance (knee) from the Trail Blazers on Tuesday in exchange for Josh Hart, Nickeil Alexander-Walker, Tomas Satoransky, Didi Louzada (knee), a protected 2022 first-round pick and two future second-round picks, Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN reports.
EDGE Analysis
McCollum is the main prize in the deal for New Orleans, with Snell and Nance likely included as throw-in pieces primarily for salary-matching purposes. Snell had been included in Portland's rotation for much of the season, but as has been the case throughout his career, his defensive-minded, low-usage approach has made him one of the worst fantasy contributors on a per-minute basis. The veteran forward has taken a major step backward as a perimeter shooter in particular in 2021-22, converting only 0.6 three-pointers per game at a 32 percent clip after knocking down 56.9 percent of those attempts in 47 contests with Atlanta one season prior. Expect Snell's playing time to take a hit with the move to New Orleans, and he could find himself outside of head coach Willie Green's rotation when the team is at close to full strength. Since all the players involved in the deal will presumably need to pass physicals before the trade is finalized, Snell likely won't be available for Tuesday's game against the Rockets, but he could make his Pelicans debut Thursday versus the Heat.

Snell finished with 13 points (5-10 FG, 3-8 3Pt), eight rebounds, three assists and two blocks across 36 minutes during Friday's 96-93 loss to the Thunder.
EDGE Analysis
In the starting lineup following Friday afternoon's trade, Snell took advantage of the opportunity and notched easily his best fantasy showing of the season. With Justise Winslow coming over from the Clippers, there's a good chance he'll be prioritized over Snell going forward, but Norman Powell and Robert Covington heading to Los Angeles could free up some more minutes for the veteran. Either way, he's unlikely to be a consistent enough fantasy contributor to warrant holding in most leagues.

Snell wills tart Wednesday's game against the Mavericks, Jay Allen of NBC Sports Northwest Rip City Radio 620 reports.
EDGE Analysis
Snell sat out the past three games as a coach's decision but will return to the lineup Wednesday with Nassir Little (shoulder) and Robert Covington (knee) sidelined. Snell has averaged 2.2 points and 3.0 rebounds in 16.2 minutes off the bench in his last five appearances.

Snell (coach's decision) went unused off the bench Tuesday in the Trail Blazers' 109-107 loss to the Timberwolves.
EDGE Analysis
Snell hasn't appeared in any of Portland's last three games and looks to have lost out on a spot in head coach Chauncey Billups' rotation. Now that the Trail Blazers are at full strength on the wing, CJ McCollum, Norman Powell, Ben McLemore and Nassir Little are expected to absorb the bulk of the minutes at either shooting guard or small forward moving forward.

Snell isn't starting Monday's game against the Hawks.
EDGE Analysis
Snell will come off the bench in this one with Jusuf Nurkic clearing the league's health and safety protocols earlier in the day. The former first-round pick out of New Mexico had struggled in his last four starts, averaging just 3.8 points and 2.5 rebounds in 16.3 minutes.

Snell and the Trail Blazers won't play the Nets on Thursday after the NBA postponed the game due to Brooklyn not having the league-required eight available players for that contest.
EDGE Analysis
As a result of the postponement, fantasy managers in deeper weekly leagues will get just one game out of Snell, who started in his return from a three-game absence due to a personal matter and finished with zero points (0-1 FG), three rebounds, one steal and one block in 18 minutes during Tuesday's 111-97 loss to the Pelicans. Snell and the Trail Blazers will return to action Monday against the Mavericks.
