Midseason Grades: Southwest Division fantasyalarm.com Sat 3/17/12 6:07 PM
We wrap up our mid-season looks across the Association with the Southwest Division of the Western Conference. This is the home of the defending NBA champions (Dallas Mavericks), the team with the best regular season record a season ago (San Antonio Spurs) and a team that came of age in the post season last spring (Memphis Grizzlies.). Also in the Southwest, a team searching for a center since Hakeem left (Houston Rockets) and one owned by the Association (New Orleans Hornets).

Southwest Division
San Antonio Spurs (29-13) A year ago, the aging Spurs crashed and burned in the opening round of the playoffs. This time around, veterans like Tim Duncan have been given nights off in order to "save" something for the second season. Tony Parker is still the man and he is hoping his backcourt mate Manu Ginobili can help carry the load next month. San Antonio's only move at the deadline was to swap small forward Richard Jefferson to Golden State for Stephen Jackson.
Memphis Grizzlies (24-18) The Grizzlies were a force in the playoffs a year ago and now they have a healthy Rudy Gay. Zach Randolph has been out with injury for much of the season, but he has returned, ready to pair with Marc Gasol in the paint. Mike Conley is solid at the point, but the post season hopes in Memphis may lie at shooting guard. OJ Mayo has a world of talent, if he gets going, watch out! The Grizzlies have mostly role players on the bench and only made one move at the deadline, moving Sam Young in a salary dump.
Dallas Mavericks (25-20) Dallas has a lot of work to do to defend their title this Spring. The loss of Tyson Chandler...
Midseason Grades: Central fantasyalarm.com Fri 3/9/12 4:52 PM
With the second half of the shortened NBA season underway, we pass along our Mid-season grades. Continuing in the Eastern Conference, we look at the five teams that make up the Central Division. The Chicago Bulls appear set to rule supreme in the Central, with the Indiana Pacers their only threat, albeit a nominal one.

Chicago Bulls- (33-9) The only team standing in the way of the Heat returning to the NBA finals. Given the constant pain that Derrick Rose has endured, would the Bulls be best served by resting him the second of back to backs ala the Spurs and Tim Duncan? At some plateau it might even make sense to shut him down for a week or so heading into the post season. Oklahoma City (31-8) and Miami (30-9) will fight for home court with Chicago throughout the shortened regular season. Shooting guard was the Windy City Achilles a year ago and that hasn't been solved. The good news? Luol Deng, when healthy, is a solid second option, Rose's Pippen if you will.
Indiana Pacers- (23-14) The rebuilt Pacers have re-assumed the role as the Central Division's "second city". Danny Granger remains the Association's most underrated player, in part due to style, in part location. Roy Hibbert has progressed into a legit center, fully capable of holding his own with the right supporting cast. The continued development of Paul George and the key free agent signing of David West makes Indiana a 'tough out" in a seven game series. Darren Collison has more upside and won't...
