Steve Blake is preparing to play at both guard positions for the Lakers. With Kobe's Achilles injury clouding his status, and with the Lakers intent on limiting aging Steve Nash's minutes, Blake provides much-needed backcourt depth. He'll battle Jordan Farmar for minutes, however, and it remains to be seen if his role will translate into fantasy value once the team is at full strength.

Steve Blake (hamstring) played without restrictions while working out with Lakers teammates on Tuesday. Injuries limited Blake to 45 games played last season, though he stumbled into major minutes as a starter in April when he averaged 12.6 points, 2.8 triples, 5.3 rebounds, 4.0 assists and 1.0 steals. The Lakers added Jordan Farmar as PG depth this summer, and Blake's fantasy value is severely restricted as long as Steve Nash is healthy.

Steve Blake is no longer limited by the strained hamstring that ended his season in late April. Blake has been working out since the middle of May and he recently confirmed that his hamstring feels fine. In 13 starts for injured teammates this season, Blake averaged 10.0 points, 2.2 threes, 4.3 rebounds, 3.6 assists and 1.1 steals. He'll earn a guaranteed $4 million in 2013-14, the final year of his contract, and he's an intriguing handcuff for Kobe Bryant and Steve Nash.

Steve Blake (hamstring) will be out indefinitely for the Lakers. He was diagnosed with a strained hamstring and being out indefinitely suggests there could be some degree of tearing in the muscle. Blake has been useful for the Lakers and in April he averaged 39.3 minutes, 12.6 points and 5.3 assists, so they have a massive hole to fill. The Lakers are also expected to be without Jodie Meeks and Steve Nash, so this year's D-League MVP, Andrew Goudelock, and Darius Morris will be picking up plenty minutes.

Steve Blake said he felt a "sharp pain" in his hamstring. Blake injured his hamstring in the Game 2 loss, and he's already scheduled to have an ultrasound on Thursday. Blake admitted that "it hurts right now" when talking about the injury after the game, and it's looking like he's questionable at best to suit up on Friday. There is a very real possibility the Lakers could start a backcourt of Chris Duhon and Darius Morris in a must-win playoff game.

Steve Blake left Wednesday's Game 2 loss against the Spurs with a strained right hamstring. Steve Nash was moving at half speed tonight with his own hamstring problems tonight, and the Lakers could be in deep trouble, heading to L.A. in an 0-2 hole. Andrew Goudelock and Darius Morris could see a ton of minutes in Game 3 if Blake and Nash are unable to go. Blake finished with 16 points, six rebounds, two assists and three 3-pointers in the loss.

The Lakers are leaning toward starting Steve Blake and Steve Nash in the same backourt against the Spurs. That's assuming of course that Nash's hamstring is good enough for him to play. The idea is an intriguing one considering how hot Blake has been of late. It also wouldn't be the strangest backcourt the Lakers have tried this season considering they turned Kobe Bryant into the point guard and made Nash the shooting guard for long stretches. Also, it's not like Bryant's replacement, Jodie Meeks, has been lighting things up since Kobe went down.

Steve Blake had 24 points, seven boards, seven assists and four 3-pointers on 6-of-20 shooting in Wednesday's dramatic overtime win over the Rockets. The Lakers will get the struggling Spurs in Round 1 as the No. 7 seed and it remains to be seen if Steve Nash will be ready for Game 1. If not, expect more heroics from Blake until Nash is fully healthy.

Steve Blake made 8-of-16 FGs, including four 3-pointers, to finish Sunday's victory with 23 points, four assists and two steals. He also grabbed five rebounds in his 36 minutes of action. Chris Duhon (scoreless in four minutes) hasn't found favor with Mike D'Antoni in spite of the Lakers' injury woes, so Blake should be a lock for heavy playing time in the season finale on Wednesday.

Steve Blake played 37 minutes in another start at point guard on Friday and had 14 points, three boards, five assists and four 3-pointers vs. Golden State. He is going to have the ball in his hands quite a bit now that the Lakers will be without one of the best players ever. Blake can hand out plenty of assists while hitting some threes, so he'll be a must-start guy while Steve Nash (hip, hamstring) is out. He will also get playing time at shooting guard once Nash returns, too.
