Hunter will return to the Bulls to provide extra backcourt depth as they embark on a two-week roadtrip. The ex-Celtic, who was waived prior to the start of the regular season, has appeared in two games for the Windy City Bulls thus far and is averaging 17.0 points, 4.5 assists, 3.0 rebounds and 2.0 blocks per game. The Georgia State product is struggling from the field, however, converting just 10-of-32 field goals and 4-of-19 three-pointers.

Hunter was just waived by the Celtics on Monday and it took him just two days to find a new home in Chicago. The Bulls are fairly deep in their backcourt, especially at shooting guard with both Dwyane Wade and Denzel Valentine in like to take on majority of the minutes. The sharpshooter out of Georgia State will most likely find himself in Chicago's D-League affiliate unless needed to add depth later this season.

If he clears waivers he will likely find a home in Boston's D-League affiliate to start the season, but given his size and potential at the shooting guard position, there is a chance he finds himself back in the NBA somewhere down the road.

Hunter dropped 12 points (5-11 FG, 2-5 3Pt) in 24 minutes against the Knicks in a preseason game on Friday. He also had four rebounds and two assists.

EDGE Analysis

Hunter barely played as a rookie, only seeing 8.8 minutes a night, where he only averaged 2.7 ppg. Unless his role is significantly bigger this season, his fantasy value is likely to be limited, even with the shooting stroke he showed in college.

Hunter recorded 17 points (6-8 FG, 2-4 3Pt, 3-4 FT), two steals, one rebound and one assist across 12 minutes in Saturday's 119-107 preseason win over the Knicks.

EDGE Analysis

Hunter entered training camp with his roster spot not guaranteed for the coming season, but he likely solidified his standing with the team with Saturday's performance. The Celtics will need to see consistent production from Hunter as a three-point shooter in order to justify giving him more run in 2016-17, but he'll likely open up the campaign outside of coach Brad Stevens' rotation.

Hunter had a relatively quiet summer league, averaging 10.2 points on 37.5 percent shooting in five games.

EDGE Analysis

Hunter played only sparingly for the Celtics as a rookie and he'll look to make a leap in Year 2, though the roster isn't exactly full of holes. The Georgia State product will compete with Marcus Smart, Jaylen Brown, James Young and starter Avery Bradley for minutes at the shooting guard spot. Hunter's deep shooting range is his primary asset, and he emerged from Vegas shooting better than 47 percent from deep, which is certainly an encouraging number.

Hunter (wrist) played 26 minutes in Sunday's 87-74 loss to the Suns in the Las Vegas Summer League, scoring 17 points (4-11 FG, 4-6 3Pt, 5-7 FT) while adding two steals, one assist and a rebound.

EDGE Analysis

Hunter also committed a game-high seven fouls, but the Celtics were likely just happy to see him back on the court after a bone bruise on his right wrist prevented him from playing Thursday. The 22-year-old averaged just 2.7 points and shot 36.7 percent from the field over 8.8 minutes per game as a rookie, and may struggle to find minutes this season behind the backcourt triumvirate of Isaiah Thomas, Avery Bradley and Marcus Smart.

Hunter (wrist) will not play in Thursday's summer league matchup with the Spurs, Mark Murphy of the Boston Herald reports.

EDGE Analysis

Hunter's wrist was apparently seen in a removable cast, but the injury still isn't considered all too serious. He'll sit out for a second straight summer league game Thursday, with his next shot to play on Saturday versus the Bulls. Still a couple months away from training camp, Hunter's wrist injury shouldn't be a long-term concern, but for now, the Celtics will continue to give him rest and rehabilitation opportunities to avoid further injury.
