Harkless has been a top-150 player over the past two weeks but that is almost entirely on the back of his 1.6 steals per game. As long as the Clippers have most of their roster available, Harkless is far too inconsistent to have as a permanent fixture on any roster outside of the deepest formats.

Harkless turned in a sneaky gem Sunday, filling the box score in the comfortable victory. This is the kind of night Harkless can produce from time to time but should also be seen as his absolute ceiling. The Clippers have a number of fringe players due to return in the coming games and that could certainly impact the playing time for Harkless. He is far from a must-roster player but could be streamed in for defensive purposes.

Harkless had nine points, three steals, two rebounds, two blocks and one assist in 23 minutes during Friday's 107-97 loss to San Antonio.

Harkless had five combined steals and blocks during what was a disappointing night for the Clippers. It appears as though Harkless is going to feature as a member of the starting unit moving forward, based on the sample size thus far. With that being said, his playing time unlikely to be reflective of what you would expect from a starter and he is simply a defensive streamer in standard formats.

Harkless collected two points (0-2 FG, 0-1 3Pt, 2-6 FT), six rebounds, two assists and two steals in 20 minutes during Tuesday's 114-99 win over the Mavericks.

Harkless hasn't reached double figures in scoring once over the last 16 games. He scored exactly 10 points in each of the first two tilts to begin the campaign, but otherwise Harkless has been awfully quiet. Moreover, it's not like he's making strong contributions across the other categories, so Harkless is likely best reserved for use in deeper leagues.

Harkless will draw the start in place of the injured Landry Shamet (ankle) for Wednesday's matchup against the Rockets, Jonathan Feigen of the Houston Chronicle reports.

While the veteran's play to start the season has made him look like a savvy offseason addition, the 26-year-old forward could see his playing time diminish as Paul George (shoulder) inches closer to his 2019-20 season debut.

Though Patrick Patterson garnered the start at power forward in place of the injured Paul George (shoulders), Harkless and JaMychal Green (12 points, six rebounds in 19 minutes) were the main beneficiaries of the star's absence. Harkless should continue to see steady minutes while George likely remains out through around mid-November, if not longer.

Harkless ended with 16 points (7-7 FG, 2-2 3Pt), three rebounds, two blocks, and one assist in 12 minutes during Sunday's 127-87 preseason victory over the Shanghai Sharks.

EDGE Analysis

Harkless hit all seven of his shot attempts on the way to a team-best 16 points Sunday. This game was a blowout meaning the minutes were all over the place. Harkless could have patches of backend standard league value this season but it is all dependant on other players resting. He is more of a defensive specialist in any case and is only worth monitoring from afar at this stage.
