Lowry (thumb) will not play in Tuesday's preseason game against the Rockets, Blake Murphy of The Athletic reports.
EDGE Analysis
Lowry is still working back from offseason thumb surgery, so the Raptors will continue to exercise caution with the veteran, who just inked a lucrative, one-year extension Monday. Expect Fred VanVleet and Cam Payne to handle most of the point guard minutes Tuesday in Lowry's absence.

Lowry (thumb) and the Raptors have agreed to a one-year, $31 million extension, Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN reports.
EDGE Analysis
The veteran had one year at just over $33 million remaining on his current deal, so he'll now be under contract with Toronto for two years and roughly $64 million overall. While the Raptors could still trade Lowry at some point if they choose to enter a mini-rebuild, the contract offers Lowry increased stability, as he previously would have been set to enter the open market as a free agent in the summer of 2020. Wojnarowski notes that Lowry is the first player older than 33 years old in league history to net an extension that pays him north of $30 million.

Lowry (thumb) is expected to be cleared for practice after the team returns from Tokyo, Michael Grange of Sportsnet.ca reports.
EDGE Analysis
Lowry will actually travel with the team for their two preseason contests in Tokyo, though he won't be given the green light to resume normal basketball activities until returning. He'll have a few chances to see some game action prior to the start of the regular season.

Coach Nick Nurse said Lowry (thumb) has not yet been medically cleared to practice, Josh Lewenberg of TSN.ca reports.
EDGE Analysis
Nurse added that Lowry, who is recovering from thumb surgery he underwent in summer, should be cleared to return soon. Everything is apparently going well in his recovery and the veteran guard is still on track to be ready for the season opener.

Lowry (thumb) has been limited in recent practices, Josh Lewenberg of TSN reports.
EDGE Analysis
Lowry underwent thumb surgery over the summer, and he's been held out of the contact portion of drills and scrimmages in recent weeks. The Raptors plan to bring the veteran along slowly, but the general expectation is that he'll be ready for the season opener on Oct. 22 against New Orleans.

Lowry has withdrawn from Team USA due to his lingering thumb injury, Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN reports.
EDGE Analysis
Lowry stated on his Instagram page that he was hoping he would be medically cleared to play for Team USA in the FIBA World Cup Tournament but cannot because he hasn't been cleared for full basketball activities just yet. The veteran guard is still recovering from offseason thumb surgery which he underwent in July but figures to be almost 100 percent healthy when preseason play opens in October.

Lowry underwent a procedure Thursday to repair a tendon in his left thumb, Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN reports.
EDGE Analysis
Lowry battled the issue throughout the postseason, and it was always expected that he'd undergo some sort of surgery to address the damaged tendon. Overall, the procedure seems to be relatively minor, as Lowry still hopes to be available for Team USA camp -- which begins August 5 -- and the subsequent FIBA World Cup at the end of the summer.

Lowry totaled 26 points (9-16 FG, 4-7 3Pt, 4-6 FT), 10 assists, seven rebounds and three steals across 42 minutes in the Raptors' win over the Warriors on Thursday.
EDGE Analysis
Lowry made up for poor performances in Games 4 and 5 with a solid effort in the Game 6 win. He scored the Raptors' first 11 points of the game and had 21 at halftime. Although quiet in the second half offensively, Lowry dished 10 dimes and pulled down seven rebounds for a well-rounded final stat line.

Lowry managed 18 points (8-16 FG, 1-6 3Pt, 1-2 FT), six assists, four rebounds, two blocks and one steal across 42 minutes during the Raptors' 106-105 loss to the Warriors in Game 5 of the NBA Finals on Monday.
EDGE Analysis
Lowry bounced back from another postseason clunker with a highly efficient shooting performance Monday, but it was his final miss of the night that looms the largest. Fittingly, given his long tenure with the franchise, Lowry found himself with the ball in his hands and the chance to drain a buzzer-beating bucket that would have given the Raptors their first NBA title. Instead, the veteran point guard missed the rim altogether on the difficult corner-three attempt, hitting the side of the backboard as time expired. It was an otherwise productive effort for Lowry, who'd shot just 25.0 percent in Game 4. The multi-time All-Star has just a 36.7 percent success rate overall thus far in the series, however, a figure he'll need to continue to improve on to give Toronto a better shot at victory in Thursday's Game 6 at Oracle Arena.

Lowry supplied 23 points (8-16 FG, 5-9 3Pt, 2-2 FT), nine assists, four rebounds, one steal and one block across 43 minutes during the Raptors' 123-109 win over the Warriors in Game 3 of the NBA Finals on Wednesday.
EDGE Analysis
Lowry had vowed to be more aggressive in Game 3 after a relatively modest effort in last Sunday's Game 2 loss, and he made good on that promise. The veteran point guard equaled a high-water mark for this current postseason with nine attempts from behind the arc, while his five made threes qualified as his best showing in that category since Game 1 of the Eastern Conference finals against the Bucks. Lowry surpassed his combined scoring total from Games 1 and 2 of the Finals by three points Wednesday, and he'll strive to put together an equally impressive performance in Friday's pivotal Game 4.
