Lowry thinks that his illness was caused by something he ate, rather than a virus, and it sounds like he'll be ready to go vs. the 76ers on Friday. According to ESPN's Marc Stein, the Raptors are "growing increasingly comfortable" with the idea of keeping Kyle Lowry and trying to make the playoffs this year. Toronto's sudden surge post-Rudy Gay leaves them with a 17-17 record and better odds to make the playoffs in the weakened Eastern Conference than to wind up with the top pick in next year's draft. Raptors GM Masai Ujiri has wisely avoided locking his team into one course of action and a trade may yet be in the works, but it seems must less likely than it did a few weeks ago.

Kyle Lowry was terrific against the Wizards on Friday with 19 points, five boards, 11 assists, three steals and four 3-pointers in 35 minutes. He is putting up some huge numbers and the Raptors are on a five-game winning streak. Over that span, Lowry averaged 18.4 points, 5.0 boards, 10.6 assists, 1.8 steals and 2.8 triples on 49.2 percent from the field. His value can't get much higher than it is right now, but that's not saying much.

According to Yahoo, the Warriors have reportedly been "engaged for weeks" with the Raptors on a Kyle Lowry trade. The title-contending Warriors are in desperate need of a backup point guard, and a defensive bulldog like Lowry would be ideal for eventual playoff battles. The problem, of course, is that Lowry is an legit NBA starter and the Raptors won't want to just unload him for pennies. Owners shouldn't worry too much yet, especially with Toronto playing good ball of late. The Warriors are also looking at disgruntled Nuggets backup Andre Miller.

The Raptors have won eight of their last 10 games and Lowry is a big reason why, averaging 19.2 points, 4.8 rebounds, 10.2 assists, 1.4 steals and 2.4 3-pointers over his last five. The Raptors have won at Chicago, Oklahoma City and Dallas during the streak, and beat one of the league's elite teams at home tonight.
