Walker will remain away from the team to start training camp, James L. Edwards III of The Athletic reports.
EDGE Analysis
Walker and the Pistons reportedly reached a buyout agreement at the end of June, but apparently the point guard didn't accept the offer after realizing he wouldn't have many free-agent offers this offseason, per Kyle Cohen. While Walker is technically still with the team, it appears like neither side intends for it to stay that way for long. Per Edwards, Detroit will need to waive or trade a player by Oct. 16 to be at the league limit for standard roster spots going into the regular season.

Walker and the Pistons agreed to a contract buyout Thursday, and he will enter free agency upon clearing waivers, Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN reports.
EDGE Analysis
The veteran guard was acquired by the Pistons from the Knicks during the NBA Draft last week, and it's not a surprise he won't be sticking around with his new team. Walker appeared in 37 games for New York last year and averaged 11.6 points, 3.0 rebounds and 3.5 assists in 25.6 minutes while shooting 40.3 percent from the field, though he was shut down for the season in February in order to prepare for the 2022-23 campaign.

Walker was traded to the Pistons during Thursday's NBA Draft, Shams Charania of The Athletic reports.
EDGE Analysis
The details of the reported trade are still extremely unclear, but it looks as though the Knicks are involved in a three-team deal with Detroit and Charlotte that also involved Jalen Duren, the No. 13 pick in the 2022 NBA Draft. Duren is headed to Detroit, while the Pistons will send the Hornets -- the original owners of the 13th pick -- a 2025 first-round pick in exchange. At this time, it's unclear if the Knicks are bringing in any players or picks as part of the deal, but New York's motivation appears to be clearing cap space in advance of free agency. For Walker, the expectation is that he'll be bought out by Detroit and will seek a new home as a free agent this summer, per Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.

Walker has been ruled out for the remainder of the season so he can work out in preparation for the 2022-23 campaign, Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN reports.
EDGE Analysis
Walker dealt with a knee injury earlier in the season but appeared in 13 of the Knicks' 15 games ahead of the All-Star break. He has one year remaining on his contract following the 2021-22 campaign, and his shutdown will allow for Walker and the Knicks to explore potential trades during the offseason. Derrick Rose (ankle) is expected to return to the Knicks' lineup Feb. 25 and should serve as the team's primary point guard, while Immanuel Quickley, Alec Burks and Ryan Arcidiacono should also see additional work in the backcourt. After signing with the Knicks in August, Walker made 37 appearances and averaged 11.6 points, 3.5 assists and 3.0 rebounds in 25.6 minutes per game.

Walker recorded 23 points (7-12 FG, 4-8 3Pt, 5-5 FT), one rebound and two assists in 26 minutes during Saturday's 112-103 loss to Portland.
EDGE Analysis
While the Knicks took an ugly loss to the rebuilding Blazers, Walker had easily his best game since December. The veteran is basically a game-time decision for each contest, but he's now started 11 of the last 13 games. During that span, he's averaging just 7.9 points, 2.1 rebounds, 3.3 assists and shooting 37.3 percent from the floor, however.

Walker (rest) is off the injury report for Tuesday's game against the Jazz.
EDGE Analysis
Walker sat out the front end of the back-to-back set Monday in Utah, allowing Alec Burks to pick up a start at point guard in the Knicks' 113-104 loss. The Knicks' decision to remove him from the injury report ahead of Tuesday's contest implies that Walker's absence Monday was truly a rest day, rather than the result of a flare-up of his arthritic knee. Expect Walker to slot back into the starting five in Denver, especially after Burks turned in a dud of an outing (five points, six rebounds and one assist in 31 minutes) in Utah.

Walker (rest) won't play in Monday's game against the Jazz, Fred Katz of The Athletic reports.
EDGE Analysis
Walker will get a rest day on Monday as the Knicks head to Utah for the first leg of their upcoming back-to-back set out West. He is expected to be available for Tuesday's matchup with the Nuggets. The veteran guard is averaging just 11.9 points, 3.2 rebounds and 3.3 assists across 26.0 minutes per game this season.

Walker registered seven points (3-7 FG, 1-4 3Pt), one rebound, three assists and one steal over 23 minutes during Saturday's 122-115 overtime loss to the Lakers.
EDGE Analysis
Walker has started each of his last eight appearances, but he's averaged just 6.8 points, 2.5 assists and 2.1 rebounds in 22.1 minutes during that stretch. Alec Burks came off the bench Saturday and outproduced Walker in every major statistical category. The Knicks' point guard position continues to be a revolving door, and there doesn't appear to be a clear frontrunner to seize control of the position, which makes it difficult to trust any of them from a fantasy perspective.

Walker contributed seven points (2-8 FG, 2-7 3Pt, 1-1 FT) across 19 minutes during Wednesday's 110-96 loss to the Heat.
EDGE Analysis
Walker started at the point guard for the fourth time in five games, and coincidentally the Knicks are 0-4 in those contests. Walker was particularly ineffective Wednesday, finishing as a minus-30 in just 19 minutes of action as the game got out of hand in the third quarter. The veteran has proven capable of big performances every now and then, but on the whole he's far too risky and inconsistent to trust in most weekly lineup leagues.

Walker (knee) will play Monday against the Cavaliers, Steve Popper of Newsday reports.
EDGE Analysis
Walker missed Sunday's win over the Clippers due to his arthritic left knee, but he'll return to action for the second half of the back-to-back set Monday. The 31-year-old has averaged 12.0 points and 3.0 assists in 25.5 minutes per game across his last two appearances.
