Richardson seems to have a tight grip in one of the two starting forward roles, and he clearly left his mark in this game -- he finished second in the team in scoring only trailing Luka Doncic, who posted 27 points. Richardson has averaged at least 13 points in each of his last two NBA seasons.

Carlisle seems to like the idea of pairing Richardson alongside Luka Doncic, a role in which Richardson would figure to guard the opposing team's best perimeter player. The 27-year-old wing is entering his first year in Dallas after he averaged 13.7 points, 3.2 rebounds, 2.9 assists, 1.5 threes and 0.9 steals per game during 2019-20 for the 76ers. His main contenders for minutes on this Dallas squad will likely come from Tim Hardaway and Dorian Finney-Smith.

Richardson, along with the 36th overall pick in the 2020 Draft, have been traded from the 76ers to the Mavericks in exchange for Seth Curry, Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN reports.

Richardson will head to Dallas, where he can fill a significant role on the wing. He could start at shooting guard or small forward next to Tim Hardaway Jr., which would presumably shift Dorian Finney-Smith to the bench. Richardson saw 30.8 minutes per game last season with the 76ers, and that's about what we can expect from him with the Mavericks. In 2019-20, he averaged 13.7 points, 3.2 rebounds and 2.9 assists.

Richardson posted 14 points (2-10 FG, 2-5 3Pt, 8-9 FT), five assists and three rebounds in 36 minutes during Sunday's 110-106 series-ending loss to Boston.

EDGE Analysis

The 76ers have nothing to show once again after falling at the first playoff hurdle. Richardson came into the season hoping to build on the previous year's 16.6 points per game, but his scoring average fell to 13.7 points and he put up the second-worst three-point shooting (34.1 percent) of his career. Still only 26 years of age, Richardson has time on his side, but he'll need to bounce back to his 2018-19 level to be anything more than roster filler for fantasy purposes.

Richardson scored 18 points (7-17 FG, 3-9 3Pt, 1-1 FT) while adding six rebounds and two assists in 38 minutes during Monday's 109-101 Game 1 loss against the Celtics.

EDGE Analysis

Richardson might have scored 34 points in a bubble loss against the Trail Blazers on Aug. 9, but this was only the third time he surpassed the 15-point plateau dating back to a Feb. 11 win over the Clippers when he scored 21 points. Richardson won't be anything more than Philly's third-best offensive option behind Joel Embiid and Tobias Harris, though, so his offensive upside should be capped moving forward.

Richardson (rest) managed 10 points (3-8 FG, 1-3 3Pt, 3-3 FT), five rebounds, two assists and one block in 24 minutes during Wednesday's 125-121 loss to the Raptors.

EDGE Analysis

Richardson rejoined the rotation following a one-game absence for rest purposes. With Philadelphia locked into sixth in the Eastern Conference, it shouldn't be that surprising if coach Brett Brown opts to limit the playing time of Richardson and the rest of the starters during Friday's regular season finale versus Houston.

EDGE Analysis

As expected, after getting Tuesday's contest against the Suns off for rest, Richardson will return to the lineup for the 76ers' second-to-last seeding game. In the bubble, Richardson is averaging 15.4 points, 2.6 assists, 1.2 rebounds and 1.0 steals in 34.2 minutes.

The absence of Ben Simmons (knee) opens the door for Richardson to step up offensively going forward, and if Joel Embiid (ankle) misses any games that too will catapult Richardson higher in the team's pecking order.
