Richardson has been diagnosed with a right quad contusion and is questionable Wednesday against the Blazers, Jim Eichenhofer of the Pelicans' official site reports.

The Pelicans are already very thin on the wings, so this obviously isn't ideal. If Richardson is unable to play, Trey Murphy could reemerge with a sizable bump in fantasy value. Naji Marshall also stands to benefit, as he's someone who can play multiple positions.

Richardson ran with the opening five Thursday, supplanting Trey Murphy who played just 23 minutes off the bench. While it is unclear whether this will stick for the foreseeable future, Richardson should certainly be on the radar across all formats at this point. Having provided solid two-way production in the past, he makes for an interesting acquisition. With clear top-90 upside, managers could do worse than grabbing him to see what happens.

He will finish the contest with eight points, three rebounds, two assists, two steals and one block across 19 minutes. Richardson's next chance to see the court will come Feb. 23 against the Raptors.

Richardson finished Monday's 103-100 win over the Thunder with 10 points (4-8 FG, 0-4 3Pt, 2-2 FT), two rebounds, three assists, two blocks and five steals across 34 minutes.

It didn't take long for Richardson to find a role in New Orleans, as he played a team-high 34 minutes off the bench Monday. That is a season high for the 29-year-old, who was acquired by the Pelicans on Thursday. Richardson also set a season high with five steals. If he is going to remain among the leaders in minutes for New Orleans, Richardson's fantasy value will take a big jump with the change of scenery.

Richardson doesn't appear on the Pelicans' injury report for Monday's game against the Thunder.

EDGE Analysis

The 29-year-old wing thus looks on track to make his Pelicans debut in Oklahoma City, after he sat out Friday's 118-107 loss to the Cavaliers following his acquisition from the Spurs one day earlier. Assuming Richardson was able to practice over the weekend, he should settle into a spot on the Pelicans' second unit, though he could struggle to reach the 23.8 minutes per game he averaged for the Spurs earlier this season.

Richardson was dealt from San Antonio to New Orleans on Thursday but won't be able to suit up for his new team a day later. However, he'll be in attendance at Friday's game and should be available Monday against Oklahoma City as long as he doesn't have any issues with his physical.

Unsurprisingly, the non-contending Spurs moved off the veteran wing on an expiring deal to get more draft capital back in return along with a slightly younger player in Graham. Over 23.8 minutes per game with San Antonio this season, Richardson averaged 11.5 points, 3.3 assists, 2.8 rebounds, 1.8 three-pointers and 1.0 steals. He should slot in as a reserve and could take some minutes away from Dyson Daniels (ankle) and Naji Marshall.

Richardson totaled 14 points (4-15 FG, 2-8 3Pt, 4-4 FT), seven rebounds, three assists, three blocks and one steal across 31 minutes during Wednesday's 112-98 loss to the Raptors.

EDGE Analysis

Making his third straight start, Richardson made a surprising impact on the defensive end considering he hadn't recorded a block in six straight games coming into Wednesday and had only eight in total on the season. Jakob Poeltl got dealt Wednesday after the loss, and Richardson could be the next veteran out the door before Thursday's deadline given his expiring contract and long-range shooting -- the 29-year-old has drained a three in 16 straight games, shooting 36.9 percent from beyond the arc during that time.
