Adams (knee) tallied nine points (4-8 FG, 1-2 FT), four rebounds, and an assist over 17 minutes in Friday's 86-76 loss to the Magic.

The second-year pro finally returned to the court after offseason knee surgery, and put in an efficient performance over his relatively brief time on the court. Partially due to the missed time, Adams is clearly below veterans Vince Carter and Tony Allen on a shooting guard depth chart currently headed by Courtney Lee. The 2014 first-round pick may be hard-pressed to receive enough minutes in the regular season to move the needle on that pecking order.

EDGE Analysis

Adams (knee) underwent minor knee surgery during the offseason, and has yet to return fully. By all accounts, Adams seems fairly close to being cleared. Still, it's obvious that the Grizzlies, who have loads of wing depth, aren't going to rush him back until he's 100 percent healthy. Even once healthy, Adams has an uphill battle for minutes given the presence of veterans Courtney Lee, Jeff Green, Tony Allen, Matt Barnes, and Vince Carter.

Adams averaged 16.0 points (34% FG, 18% 3Pt, 90% FT), 4.8 rebounds, 1.0 assist, 2.3 steals, and 0.3 blocks in 33 minutes per game during four games at the Orlando Summer League. Adams started all four games, and though he struggled with his shot, he got to the free throw line enough to salvage his stat lines. Having struggled with turnovers in the past, it was nice to see him average just 1.5 giveaways a game, but he gambled a lot on the other end, and looked disinterested at times defensively. In a crowded wing rotation, Adams still has work to do if he's hoping to earn the nod over the veterans ahead of him on the Grizzlies' depth chart.

Adams averaged 3.1 points (40.7 FG, 40.0 3Pt, 60.9 FT), 0.9 rebounds, 0.5 assists, 0.5 steals and 0.2 blocks in 8 minutes per game during 30 regular season games. The rookie appeared in four playoff games, averaging 1.8 points (66.7 FG, 100.0 3Pt, 50.0 FT), 0.3 rebounds and 0.3 steals in 3 minutes per game. Adams didn't have much luck cracking Grizzlies' coach Dave Joerger's regular rotation, but he did get the chance to develop his game some playing for the team's D-League affiliate. In 11 games with the Iowa Energy Adams averaged 18.1 points (46.2 FG, 38.8 3Pt, 79.5 FT), 6.9 rebounds, 1.8 assists, 1.9 steals and 0.5 blocks in 32 minutes per game. Expect him to see considerable playing time in the summer league as he looks to improve and earn more time in his sophomore season.

Adams played one minute and recorded one steal in the Grizzlies' 100-86 win versus the Blazers on Sunday. Tony Allen (hamstring) was back in action, and coach Dave Joerger opted to go with veteran Vince Carter for 14 minutes. The fact that Adams saw only one minute despite the Grizzlies' convincing lead means his minutes in the playoffs will likely be limited at best.

Adams scored 19 points (6-15 FG, 2-5 3Pt, 5-7 FT) with two rebounds, two assists and two steals in 21 minutes off the bench Monday. It's the first time since early March he's scored in double digits, so don't expect a repeat from Adams in the Grizzlies' regular season finale against the Pacers on Wednesday.

Adams contributed 13 points (6-8 FG, 1-1 3Pt), one block and one steal in 23 minutes during the Grizzlies' 93-82 loss versus the Jazz on Tuesday. Adams hadn't seen double digit minutes since back in January. With Tony Allen (suspension) set to return for Wednesday's game versus the Rockets Adams is highly unlikely to match Tuesday's load of minutes. Coach Dave Joerger has never been fond of playing rookies all that much, and one solid shooting night from the 20-year-old Adams is not likely to change that.

Adams logged five minutes of action during Wednesday's game against the Thunder.Adams is one of the last options off the bench in Memphis and that won't likely change at any point this season. In fact, he has served stints in the D-League this year and will likely do the same when play resumes after the All-Star break.

Adams (ankle) was recalled by the Grizzlies on Sunday. Adams will rejoin the Grizzlies after shaking off his ankle injury during almost 23 minutes of action for the Iowa Energy on Saturday. Despite returning to health, Adams is not expected to see significant time on the court with Memphis this season.

Adams (ankle) was assigned to the D-League on Saturday. He will go back to the Iowa Energy as his back-and-forth rookie season continues. Adams should be recalled by Memphis at some point again this season, but he is unlikely to be a major part of the rotation at any point as a rookie.
