Whiteside tallied 17 points (7-10 FG, 3-5 FT), 12 rebounds, three blocks and one steal across 27 minutes in Saturday's 109-100 preseason loss to the Timberwolves.
EDGE Analysis
Whiteside has recorded a pair of double-doubles while shooting better than 70 percent from the floor in both of his preseason appearances. With the Heat losing key contributors over the offseason in Chris Bosh (blood clots), Dwyane Wade and Luol Deng, Whiteside will be asked to take on a greater role on the offensive end in 2016-17. He shouldn't have much trouble surpassing last year's average of 14.2 points per game in addition to providing elite production in the field-goal percentage, blocks and rebounds categories.
