Whiteside scored 12 points (5-12 FG, 2-4 FT) and added 17 rebounds, seven blocks, and two steals in 29 minutes during Thursdays 96-73 win over the Bucks.
EDGE Analysis
For the first time this season, Whiteside blocked more than four shots in a game, a feat he accomplished 22 times during the 2015-16 season. Though he was already averaging 2.3 blocks per game, good for fifth in the league, that was significantly below expectations - Whiteside led the league with 3.7 blocks per game last season. Perhaps hopes that Whiteside might repeat those numbers were overly ambitious, as only 11 NBA players have ever exceed Whiteside's 2015-16 average, and six of them are Hall of Famers. Nonetheless, Whiteside should compete for the league lead in blocks once again this season, and it is not unreasonable to expect that his current blocks pace will increase.
