Whiteside (knee) won't undergo surgery on his sprained right MCL in the offseason, Shandel Richardson of the South Florida Sun Sentinel reports.

Whiteside sustained the injury midway through the Heat's second-round series against the Raptors and missed the final four games. He still remains without a firm timetable, but with the season now over, Whiteside won't face any pressure to return before a given date. Avoiding surgery is certainly a benefit, though, as Whiteside, an unrestricted free agent, enters the offseason seeking his first major NBA payday.
