Whiteside (calf) is expected to participate in Miami's scrimmage Thursday, Ethan Skolnick of the Miami Herald reports.

Whiteside has been dealing with a calf injury recently but his ability to take part in Thursday's scrimmage is a good indication he'll be ready for the start of the regular season. His next opportunity to play in the preseason will be against the Rockets on Saturday.
