Thornton cleared waivers Saturday and is officially a free agent, Marc Stein of ESPN reports.
EDGE Analysis
As anticipated, the veteran passed through waivers unclaimed and will now be free to sign with another club. Thornton hadn't been much of an impact player for the Wizards, posing averages of 6.6 points and 2.3 rebounds per game while shooting 40.0 percent from the floor and 35.0 percent from three. As a result, he's unlikely to be at the top of most teams' wish lists, but the 29-year-old has proven to be a valuable scorer off the bench in years past.
