Steve Nash said that he would retire if the Lakers release him via the 'stretch provision' this summer. The provision in the CBA would allow L.A. to 'stretch' Nash's remaining $9.7 million salary over three seasons, limiting the annual impact on their salary cap. It's a financial tool which might be very appealing if Nash isn't able to return to productivity this season, as he's one of three players with guaranteed contracts in 2014-15 (along with Kobe Bryant and Robert Sacre). Nash hasn't played since Feb. 11 but he's still considered day-to-day.
