Smart had his third-year option exercised by the Celtics on Friday, Bill Doyle of the Worcester Telegram reports.

Smart seems to be the point guard of the future in Boston and there's no surprise he'll be locked up through the 2016-17 season. The team still has another option on his contract for the 2017-18 season which also will likely be picked up in due time, barring something unforeseen.
